I hadn't been in there for awhile and went in to eat last night. I am glad to see owner got the place "cleaned" up some. The food was great, and service was good also. Major improvement from last time I was there!

You should try the Village Inn. It is a whole lot better. It has new ownership and is cleaned up. The service is good also.

Tried shonets and it was way too "small town" for me. People stare if your not a "regular" there. At least they did when I went in. Food was average. The employees were nice but I think the other backwoods customers made me really dislike the place. It's 2012 Milton, not everyone wears overalls and Carhartts lol. Just cause I didn't dress like you folks does not mean I am a bad person. Stop staring at people you don't know, it's weird.

The staff made me feel welcome when I went there but the customers who were there did not. Stared at me also, I guess cause I wasn't part of the "country click".

Like the other person said, Milton is backwards and in my opinion has not progressed with many towns around it (barboursville, teays valley, hurricane, etc).

It's not the leadership holding it back, it's the citizens who have limited forward thinking capabilities.

I got the same vibe there. That person did not say they were superior, just felt judged. The country people are the ones judging. Anyone who doesn't look like them, they have a problem with, that's paranoid! Talk about a snob!

stupid little podunk town. pig farmers and in-breeders - no wonder they stare at normal people. Big round table always has a bunch of the locals sitting at it staring at everything and everyone.

I concur with this statement.

It is the CUSTOMERS that make any non regular people feel like outcast.

I never felt superior, the customers just stare at you. Kinda like a cow just stands staring at you when you walk by a field they are grazing in.

The customers that check out the new patrons make some of us feel like we are odd. Glad I moved away from there for a while. It is not like this in other parts of the world.

Man i totally agree. Milton is the WORST place to live or try to raise a family. I've been in there and feel like a bug under a microscope - you would think the "locals" have never seen someone outside their little clique before. The staff is friendly enough but the regulars are just plain weird.

You do not have to be country to eat at Shonets. There's no reason why you should criticise customers. Like I said everyone is welcome.

I think the food is pretty good, and at a fair price. Unlike most of you, my problem has been with the service. It always takes awhile to get waited on, and forever for the food to be ready. However, you can't hate on old people for staring. When you retire and spend all day at the local diner, you stare at people for entertainment. Can't say that I don't stare back at all of them.

What's wrong with piercings and tattoos? I can't tell from your post if you like them or do not like them. I'm not being a smart mouth, just wondering. My tattoos and piercings do not change who I am. I treat people kind and I get treated kindly in return.
