i know no one in prison, and know no workers at the lewisburg pen. however, it amazes me how people have such utter disregard for human life. true, these men broke laws, some of them may even be monsters.. but they are still human beings just like us and they are still citizens and deserve rights. im sure those who are casting the stones at them consider yourselves great Christians, you should really start praying for them and their families and stop judging.

There are monsters in there and in no shape, form, or fashion are the just like us. Try telling that the Mother of the girl in Georgia whose 7 year old was murdered and tossed in the garbage dump. They haven't caught him yet, but You can bet that it was one of the 75 sex offenders that lived in the area. Its time for our country to put a stop to this liberal crap of trying to rehabilitate sex offenders. The only just treatment is to extinguish the electrical charge that keeps their heart beating. The only praying that I'll do for them is to make it quick and sure.

Sorry for shortening the quote Bree. They have no Constitutional rights in any prison. Their Constitutional rights were:

1) The right to remain silent.
2) The right to counsel

After conviction and during incarceration, their rights are basically shut off. They do their time. Penitentiary is a form of the word "penitence" dating back to the Walnut Street Prison in Philadelphia. There was absolutely nothing for the inmates to do except to sit in silence 24 hours a day until their time was served.

If these inmates get 3 hots and a cot, showers, meals, any electronic entertainment, or anything of the sort, then they can count their blessings that the Feds don't reform back to Walnut Street prison.

These inmates were transferred to this institution for not behaving in a regular prison. Hence the "Special Management Unit". This is not a place that just the regular off the street thug goes. These inmates have a history of assaulting staff, and other inmates, and violent histories while confined. These are the ones that start riots/disturbances, and hardcore gangbangers that control prisons, and the inmates that can't be housed with other inmates. Check the facts before the trash talking starts. They are treated the safest way possible for the staff to go home at night to their families. These inmates make weapons out of the simplest little things such as magazines or even newspapers. They won their trip to this joint by raising hell where they were before. What goes around comes around.

I have had family members incarcerated in federals as well as a husband who works for the FBOP. Correctional officers have a right to defend themselves and as innocent an inmates portray themselves they are NOT. They are in there for a reason. Both Officers and inmates are human and all officers are scrutinized and sometimes punished for their behavior even when the correct action is taken. If you don't like being in prison don't get yourself put there and these circumstances wouldn't be a problem.

I am not suprised of the story of inmates being killed by their watchers. Currently, I have a family member who is housed in the Lewisburg Penitentary and he has reported that there is a hunger strike taking place that began on Thursday 3/5/09 and will continue until next week. They are striking because their Constitutional Rights are being violated. They are only allowing them 2 calls a month, they are trashing their mail, turning off the lights at 10pm, they have taken away all of their comestic products and vitamins and stripped them of their only source of news which is the radio. The criminals are really the Correctional Officers/Guards themselves. They are some sick vision minded animals.
Response this seems odd as our friend who died first of July was allowed all kinds of phone privileges which everyone thought was wierd according to his last letter as he left his cell at 230 in the morning under handcuffs and then was in a coffin I guess the rules change. It was an altercation but no one to blame no one charged no one was hurt but he is dead. Wonder if they do lil gladiator wars first of every month for fun or who knows do they draw a number out of a hat on the night shift. I am sure that must have been a bad altercation when you are asleep and taken out of a cell at 230 in the morning never to be seen again . That place is a friggin John Grisham novel and the news is gonna be all over it cause nobody else is. Our tax dollars are paying their salaries too isnt that comforting

Boo freakin hoo. If whoever you know that's in prison didn't do what they did to get there, THEY WOULDN'T BE THERE. THEY DESEERVE TO BE THERE!!! I have a cousin in prison. I have no sympathy for any of them. I hope they all rot inside there. THEY DON'T DESERVE TO HAVE RIGHTS. If they wanted rights, they shouldn't have committed their crimes. WE WASTE BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO KEEP THESE PEOPLE ALIVE. For what? For them to make shanks and tear up everything that is GIVEN to them by taxpayers?? IN AMERICA WE SHOULD EXPEDITE THE DEATH PENALTY TO CONTROL PRISON POPULATIONS. Most of these people are the scum of the earth. NOT ALL, but MOST. I'm tired of paying for someone who can't stay out of prison and is a discipline problem even in prison. Waste of oxygen. And to all of you who "care" about these violent inmates, I hope your the ones who are victimized by the next one. Your a worthless peice of S*** too.

I believe in discipline to the fullest but for someone to have their life just jerked from them is not right. Especially when a person is there on drug charges. And I agree with what was stated before about how the inmates are to blame for their actions that resulted in ending up placed at USP. But I also know that when life throws a challenge at you, that any human being on this earth will react to protect themselves. So how is it that when in prison you protect yourself from others, and end up in a place even worse. And due to these inmates being the "worst of the worst" then why on earth would officials be allowing them to be housed together???? Anyone answer that? Because as soon as a inmate refuses to not bunk with another, due to reasons of fearing their safety, they are thrown in the hole and shackled, and stripped of all things completely. Punishing a person for a crime and treating them as a wild caged animal is two completely different things. The way this prison is operating is way past unreal. I have sympathy for the guards and people who have to work in these places but at the same time isn't it their choice to have that job, and if so then how can they live with themselves and go home to their loved ones when I guarantee that all of them just turn their head and drag out another body. Followed by coming up with some wack cause of death and destroying families. Even though some do wrong, they do still have people that love them. They are the ones left wondering why or exactly what happened. Things like this are completely crazy and I am ashamed that I have to live in this world with some of you that expressed your thoughts about this.

True but if you have no history of violence why should u be housed with real killers and violant inmates? a drug dealer shouldnt be housed directly with a serial killer. duh. places like this should be reserved for da worst of da worst! Big Meech was here...for what? He was a drug dealer not a car jacker or killer.

PA is a very corrupt state. There is a lot of looking the other way there. This is why caged pigeon shooting is legal there, and fracking and regular supicious deaths in their prisons. Also, the "kids for cash" scandal and ATT. General Corbett's ignoring the raping of boys in Sandusky's Second Mile charity program shows all of this clearly. Corbett, now Governor, is NOT being investigated for blatantly ignoring requests to investigate and prosecute Sandusky many years ago before the abuse was public knowledge. Shame on Pennsylvania!

Agreed. The animals were convicted and must pay for their crime. Screw their so called "rights". They gave them away when they went against the law of the land.
Who are some of you to judge??? Some people are in prison for selling drugs or perhaps even other less violent acts.Do these people also deserve their right taken away? Funny how many judge here but have to pay for the inmate.A person who sold drugs or crimes similar to that don't even belong with killers.Remove the spec from you're eye first before judging.

dont be ignorant.it could especially be your 18 year old son/cousin whoever in prison for let's say selling drugs or forgery..Are you saying that he deserved to be stabbed, raped or extorted?Theres inmates in there who has life and is 18 years in.They are the ones who don't respect your right to do time peacefully or your no to any sexual advance.Just like in the street rape happens.Imagine in the prison how often?!Nobody deserves to be treated like an object. How would you feel if 8 guys surrounded you and pressured you for sex?Or took everything they wanted?Oh and FYI.You always have rights in prison. Its never taken away your body is just not under your control.

sometimes causing Hell is the only thing that saves you.You can't be an angel in a pit of Demons. The bop don't move an inmate who shares his fear about his safety. They disregard the tension between inmates. So if you know that you are soon to be attacked and unable to be moved from that cell block inmates often go haywire.Sorry to say that's a strategic move.
