He looks out for himself more that the city that employs him.

I agree with the above comment. How he can claim he smells alleged Newby Island odor every day at City Hall is beyond me. As many times as I've been in the vicinity of city hall over the past 49 I've never smelled any odor.

You should let doctor check your nose.

From 880 X 237 to the City Hall, everyday there is strong garbage odor from time to time.

Thomas C. Williams is a good city manager, because he knows the odor from garbage dump is the No 1 issue that threats Milpitas

Answer to "do I feel Thomas Williams makes a good city manager?" Not if he wants to be a participant in activities that not all Milpitas residents believe in such as the alleged odor of Newby Island. He said which was in the Post that he sells Newby Island everyday from his office at city hall. I'm sure that's inside the building. I have passed by that corner many times over the years and have never smelled any odor, even with my widows down. I wouldn't dare call our esteemed city manager a lier. I just state a fact.

Jay,

Did you attend last night meeting (Oct 17 Monday, 2016)?
Did the council award contract to Republic Services?

Here are the facts. Based on BAAQMD data,

- Newby Island alone accounted for 65% of ALL air pollution complaints in the entire greater bay area!
- 20 Notices of violations and citations were issued to Newby Island for polluting the environment. That is a record!
- There were more than 6000 air pollution complaints. More than 90% were attributed to Newby Island. The sewage treatment plant's share was ~8%.

This proves without a doubt that Newby Island is the biggest source of air pollution and stink in the entire south bay. It affects not just Milpitas, but North San Jose and parts of Fremont.

Mr. Williams is doing an excellent job by looking out for the city's best interest. In order to attract jobs and companies to Milpitas, the stigma of "stink" has to be eliminated.
