Hammonton resident Jacobus needs to grow up; Set aside politics and do what is best for all

Aug 23, 2013 Full story: The Daily Journal 7

I met the man once, years ago at a county candidate's planning session. After he eagerly advocated that we get and use dirt on the opposition, my immediate reaction was that he was wacky.

The Democrats in Hammonton suffered because of Jacobus interfering in Hammonton politics. One of the Democrats better candidates got disgusted by his dirty politics and left because of him. Sure the Dems never had a chance winning anyway but Jacobus dug them into a hole they will never ever get out of.

How come there aren't any Democrats on the ballot. I moved here in February. I'm independent but curious on how a middle class town doesn't even have 1 guy running at all. I was told this is common in this town. Is it because of Obama?

New Guy! Welcome to Hammonton. There are many Democrats in Hammonton but they are Reagan Democrats not the ultra liberal types. The reason why The Dems don't field candidates is because many of them I have shifted over to the Republican club to eradicate Hammonton First from existence. The Dems haven't been well organized and are lucky to even have a top tier candidate running each election. Their last active years they had people no one has ever heard of run. Many just became recent residents to the town or were believed to be a New Guy.

Dear New Guy,

Welcome to Hammonton!!! Please do not listen to HaHa...I am not sure where the jokester gets his information from, but there are many registered Democrats in town that support Hammonton First, a bipartisan group comprised of Democrats, Republicans and Independents. HaHa's reference to who the Democrats have run recently is obviously his fear showing, that a "New resident" like yourself shouldn't have a chance. Thankfully educated voters will vote for who they feel will best serve our community, not how long a resident has lived here.

I know I am.late to this party, but I am completely offended to be called.a Ronald Reagan Democrat! When that horrible man came.to.our.town I.was still in school. I picketed him with a small.group of other like minded.Democrats. As for why there are no.Democrats.running year after year, this town forever was at least 3 Republicans for.each Democrat registered. Over the years, even with great people in the organization it got more and more difficult to get the funding necessary to.go up against the Hammonton.Republican machine. After trying for many years then trying to deal with the now Republican/Republican/Hammonto n First group, there is.little room for the.Democrats and even less money. There are some signs of a Democrat organization starting up again and I truly hope they gain a foothold. Not really happy with our.current group in office at the moment.

JFriedly, many of the Democratic candidates and even campaign managers have changed their allegiances to the Republican Party. The Democratic Party ended nearly a decade ago. Democrats can only get maybe 700 votes and at most 1000 votes. You need over 2000 to have a chance. Democrats are done in Hammonton for at least this decade.
