I am looking for family or friends of George Prater of Millport, Alabama, who during WWII served in the USAAF (100th Bomb Group) as a B-17G Flying Fortress bombardier.
He was shot down on 11th September 1944 close to my village Kovarska, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic, close to German border) and was one of three survivors of his nine-men crew. he was captured by Germans and taken as POW.
As I know, Mr. Prater has lived in Millport also after the war and died several years ago, in 1985 (he was born 19. April 1915).
We have build a museum dediacated to this air battle. You may see more at: www.museum119.cz
Any information related to George Prater will eb most appreciated. Thanks!
