The specific wording of the law that was required to be applied to this case, most likely made it difficult for a covniction. It's hard to find that Ms. Weiser had "reckless indifference" when it was obvious that she had taken steps to insure the safety of her child. Certainly, it was poor judgement, however that does not detract from the facts that she had indeed waited for someone to arrive home at the Redman's before leaving, that she had included necessary items for the immediate care and sustenance of the child and that there were many other, more dangerous things she could have done. For example, she could have had the baby in a port-a-potty on the construction site where she worked. She could have thrown the baby in a dumpster, trash can or ditch. She could have left the child in the motel room where she was delivered. She could have, as suggested by the prosecution, left the baby with a stranger that was walking down the street--a very poor choice, with all of the sexual predator and black-market baby stories we hear too much of today.

In the end, all it seems Ms. Weiser really wanted was for her child to live as happy and normal of a life as possible, and considering the circumstances in which the child was conceived, carried and delivered, it's difficult to predict whether that would have been possible.

I only hope that Ms. Weiser realizes that she has been given a second chance, and while she may have been found not guilty, she definitely needs to understand that what she did was wrong. She needs to be the best mom to these kids that she can. Little Bailey has already gone through some tremendously difficult times and as her mother, Ms. Weiser needs to do everything possible to ensure that Bailey's hard times of the past remain just that---in the past!

May this experience teach her a valuable lesson and I wish her good luck with her future life.
