These zealots are targeting the Amish, hands down. If they really want to do something, go after the pitbull breeders who breed these dogs for fighting. But they are too cowardly to deal with this, so just pick on the Amish as they are an easier target.

Have you seen some of the puppies sold at dog auctions -- some sick and uncared for, some stuck in cages to crank out more puppies and that is the sum total of their life.

As far as Amish being targeted -- I rescued a collie pup from Holmes County Dog pound, an Amish breeder literally tossed him from his wagon going down the road -- throwing dogs from a moving wagon and pitbull breeders -not that far a stretch.

What if I said a black/Asian/etc..breeder did a thing?
This mentality again is targeting the Amish, plain and simple.
All the Amish are not saints and all the Amish dog breeders are not cruel.

I doubt that it's all of any group of people.

Well if the AMISH weren't doing so many of the dog breeding facilities, then they wouldn't be targeted.

The fact that they are completely changing their operations from chickens/farm animals to dogs, has to give you some clue as to how many AMISH are doing this!!!

Plus how inhumanely they are treating the animals doesn't make me feel very good about them as a religious group. Dogs that are Matted, dirty, no exercise, thrown away, de-voiced, etc.

What it really comes down to is that people are buying these dogs. We can't blame a religious group for doing this as much as we can blame the people who buy these dogs. Both at pet stores, where they are shipped and the so called rescues who are buying them at auctions.
The only way to stop any business is to take away the profit. Not to be a bleeding heart and hand them money.
I agree with Musician, the Amish are targets for these sick "animal rights" groups. There are many puppy mills in this country that are not owned by the Amish.

Thank you, Dog Lover.

The Amish are an easy target because of their lifestyle that is not media oriented. They probably don't even know they are being talked about unless it makes a newspaper.

I say the "animal rights" groups go after the ones breeding dogs for fighting, first.

The Amish should be targeted. I have done much research on this topic. They are the most abusive group of people. From horses going to the auction block for slaughter in Sugar Creek Oh, to more and more puppy mills. These animals are bred until they are unable produce anymore, then they are killed. They never feel grass under their feet. Many live in squalor and are underfed and denied proper medical care. These puppies are sold to places like petland. I will not rest until these places are out of business. I am not a crazy animal person. I love animals and feel that all should not be exploited but treated humanely. I have lost all respect for the amish. Anything to make a buck. I will boycott buying products from the Amish community and will encourage all people I know to do the same. This discusting buisness has to be stopped.
We don't need anymore animals. The pounds are full of them and most are euthanized.

Why will no one answer the question about going after the breeders who raise dog for fighting?

Why don't you take that on first?
I think you can guarantee every animal in that environment is abused and is sold...... to be abused.

This is not unlike those who try backdoor ways to close down venues by implementing smoking bans on defenseless MA and PA PRIVATE business owners rather than taking it up with the tobacco companies where their real gripe is.

All cowardly tactics. All misdirected.

Go to the top and then you will see a trickle down effect if you are successful in stopping the breeders involved in dog fighting.
That's where you need to put your energy.

Interesting. "Every" Amish person in the world raises dogs and "every" Amish person raises them in an unhealthy manner.

Sure hope all your neighbors look and act like you, too..for their own peace of mind.
I would wager that's what you would prefer also if you were able to control that situation.
