DR. BALBOUR IS THE MOST WONDERFUL, KIND, CARING VET I HAVE MET. SHE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR ANIMALS. MY FAMILY THRU THE YEARS HAVE BEEN THERE MORE THAN ENOUGH WITH QUITE A FEW PETS AN SHE HAS TAKEN EXCELLENT CARE OF THEM AN THEY'VE BEEN PRETTY SICK. SHE IS AFFORDABLE, AN WORKS WITH YOU, AGAIN I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL, HUGE HEARTED WOMEN. THE ENTIRE STAFF IS WONDERFUL, YOU FEEL LIKE THEY LOVE YOUR PETS AS MUCH AS YOU DO AND THEY TREAT EACH AND EVERYONE LIKE THEY ARE PART OF THERE FAMILY!!

Dr. Balbour has wonderful 'bedside manner' for the humans as well...she answers all questions you have concerning your furkid(s) and the care they receive from her and her staff is top notch... she is welcoming and friendly, and remembers all her clients/patients...her experience and knowledge is definitely obvious, and it is a great comfort when you are there with a well pet, but specially so when with a sick pet.

I'm surprised that there's actually positive reviews of this place, when every time I've had to call them or go there, the staff is extremely rude. They don't want to listen to what you have to say, and this seems to be the case with anyone I have ever met that has gone to this dismal place.

If you love your pet do not under any circumstance take them to see Dr. Balbour. It's very obvious from the start that she shuold not be in this profession. Her treatment of animals under her care is horrible and her diognostic skills leave much to be desired because I had to have a second opinion from a better vet and that she was wrong and her solution to most problems is to put your pet.Mind you it's been three years and I still have a healthy and happy pet.Thank god I did not listen to her.

I've been taking my pets to Dr. Balbour for several years now. I have never once had any reason to doubt her prognosis' or her committment to her profession. She's friendly, easy to talk to, informative and caring. Never once did she suggest I put a pet to sleep. As a matter of fact, I had to ask her to, for my 14 year old dalmatian with terrible arthritis. She and her staff were comforting, kind, and sympathetic.

Her staff has always been welcoming, and very affectionate with my pets. They're friendly, and helpful. Always willing to make up a refill of a prescription on the spot. I would highly recommend bringing your pet to them.

"Don't Take Your Pet There" The owner and primary Veterinarian there should be called Dr. Death. She is not compassionate to animals. Her prices are "HIGH" .She charges you triple of what other vet hospital cost and acts like she is doing you a favor. She tells you one price and in the end its always more. Despite the fact that she always wants to put animals asleep as a solution. "Trust Me Its Not The Place To Go" They don't even follow up on your pet. They could care less if your pet needs anything. The Dr. there should not be registered. I wonder what were her passing grades!!!! " Trust Me Its Not the Place To Go"
Total Not True !!!! YOU MUST BE CONFUSED WITH ANOTHER VET! SINCE YOU ARE IN ORLAND, FL AND DR. BALBOUR IS IN NEW YORK. SHE HAS THE LOWEST PRICES AROUND AND YET HER AND HER STAFF STILL OFFERS THE WONDERFUL QUALITY CARE. HONESTLY CALL AROUND TO A FEW VETS BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR PET ANYWHERE. YOU WILL SEE FOR YOURSELF. I ALWAYS GET EXCELLENT QUICK SERVICE.

Lady from Sarasota Fl,---are you sure you have the right place? There is another Vet in Coram that fits the description you mentioned - I am sure you are mistaken.

After going to another place in Coram, we found this Vet and I am so glad we did. The staff was super nice and the Doc was wonderful. The care was top notch and we felt immediately at ease and like family. We had to put our beloved cat down, and the care and finesse and gentle way we were handled was truly a blessing. We received a sympathy card today in the mail from Island Vet and it made such a difference.

We have a young, healthy Boxer dog and another feisty cat. We intend for her to be their Doctor! No need to go anywhere else!

I have used Dr. Shona Balbour for several years now. She is a wonderful caring individual and has given exceptional care to my dog. I think that the negative comments here do not in ANY way provide a true picture of the service she provides. I have found her to be absolutely fantastic.

I agree with Dog Lover, Dr. Balbour just put my dog to sleep and she tried everything to save her. She is kind and treated both my dog and us with dignity, even cleaned my dog up after she moved her bowels before they put her back in the cage. She is very reasonable with her prices. I was back and forth with my pet for over a period of two weeks and she stayed over night for a couple of days too, and she really treated us very fair with the price. I would use her again, I think she is very professional and caring at the same time. She called back at the end of her work day and kept us up to date with everything she did in regards to treatment and answering questions. I even traveled over half an hour to use her because she was so good. I would recommend her to anyone and did.

You must have the wrong place!!! I have reffered many of my friends to Dr. Balbour because I love and trust her with my pets so much!!! All my friends love her too..

THE STAFF IS EXTREMELY KIND AND CARING. THEY WENT TOTALLY OUT OF THEIR WAY TO TO ACCOMODATE ME. ONE TIME THEY EVEN PICKED UP MY FRIEND'S CAT BECAUSE SHE WAS UNABLE TO GET HIM INTO HIS CARRIER.
NOW THAT I SEE YOU LIVE IN FLORIDA I REALLY THINK YOU MUST BE MISTAKEN ABOUT THIS VETERINARY HOSPITAL!!!

You definitely have the wrong place. Dr. Balbour is awesome and her staff is fantastic as well. I would (and do) recommend this place to anyone looking for a veterinarian who is smart, kind, caring and thorough.

Dr. Barbour of Island Vet Hospital in coram, NY is I must say The Most Loving, Caring, Compasionate DVM and Definately by far qualified to do what she does!!!! My entire family uses her and I wouldn't recommend using any other DVM. As for her staff, extremely supportive, caring, compassionate and educated. I love that place!!! As for the Coram vet ER in coram, I wouldn't bring a fish into that place. Have an emergency it's either Dr. Balbour or East End Vet Hosp.

Dr. Balbour saved my dogs life. He suffered from aplastic anemia. His immune system was attacking his red blood cells. He was living on transfusions when his blood count got too low and he was on immunosuppresant drugs to which he was not responding. In addition, these drugs could have life threatening side effects. My dog was at death's door when I found doctor Balbour. She is kind and compassionate, and with a new technology called cold laser therapy, she was able to reboot my dog's immune system to NOT attack his red blood cells. It took a while. It didn't happen overnight. Today, three years later, he is a healthy, happy dog with a normal blood count. I can't thank Dr. Balbour enough.
