Im not the one to blindly defend police officers, but if the eye witness testimony is anything near correct then it doesn't sound like the officer did anything wrong in regards to the actual shooting. He was defending himself, and being that he only fired one shot...he didn't just unload on everyone attacking him shows he used some restraint.
The big question is, why was he fighting in the first place? Was it avoidable? As a cop, you really shouldn't be the one going around fighting people.
And the other big question, was he drinking that night? If he was, why was he carrying?
Lot of questions but generally anyone who pulls out a weapon to fight someone and it is NOT in self defense gets what they deserve in my opinion. Go looking for trouble and you'll find it!

I don't know where you're coming up with your facts but what problems has he had before or history of trouble. Don't blindly state opinions at least give an example He's never been arrested, He's a good kid caught up in a really horrible situation that might of been possibly avoidable but sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was being attacked with a knife and stated he was an officer multiple times. Yes all could of been avoided but we also could have had a seriously injured officer. Sometimes life isn't clear cut. He will certainly be punished but lets not let the internet be that place. He didn't shoot a student or an innocent person. The person was wildy swinging a knife. Yes i know he obviously shouldn't have been at a bar but he's only 22 year old kid trying to enjoy his night off. I highly doubt he was going out looking to ruin his life.

LIke I said, the officer may have been in the wrong for getting involved in such a situation to begin with
BUT
I don't really have any sympathy for someone that feels the need to escalate a fight by bring more people or a weapon into the mix. You pull out a knife in anything less than self defence, you are asking for whatever you get. So in that regards, I am glad that at least for the time being there is one more shit bag off the street.

if ur off duty leave ur gun at home the other person who is in the hospital i honestly feel he should be charged with a deadly weapon and the officer should be suspended from the force

cop was thrown out for punching a man in the bar who didnt even try to fight back..it was a sucker punch...next cop sat on his own car for almost an hour....was talked to and was told why dont you leave why risk your job over something stupid....a fight insued 50 minutes after cop was ejected...the fight lasted almost 4 minutes before the cop pulled his weapon.....the facts

A so called trained cop shouldnt be waiting for someone and to me this falls under he was looking to do harm to these men and its premeditation.,,,,

what kind of "officer of the law" brings his loaded handgun into a crowded bar? then waits outside and shoots someone in the back? the kid had to get his kidney removed first they said he tried to stab the cop now they say it wasn't his knife first the say self defense now they say he was shot in the back. oh well at least we know the cops are looking out for each other, no breathalyzer they just take one look at the off-duty and go, "yup fit for duty not drunk". you gotta be kidding me. he was at the bar for how long that night? do they honestly expect us to believe he wasn't drinking? and why not release his name? why is it ok for cops to shoot people whenever they feel like it?

I believe your facts are jumbled. If you are close to the victims of this incident of course you will be biased. I suggest you let the police investigate the incident and not pass judgement before all the facts are presented.
