Stop the madness of the Suffolk Police. I just got my tax bill today. They say that they need a raise and better vacation picks. What?

Stop the Madness? Read your bill! What percentage of your tax bill compromises the Suffolk County Police? Public Safety includes all public safety union Sheriffs etc. We should not balance the Suffolk County budget on the backs of the Suffolk County PD it has been done in the past and using the PD as a scapegoat like this and prior County Executives is just deceiving the public and being disingenuous. Do you think police officer don't receive tax bills? Put the blame where it belongs in the lap of overspending politicians who haven't met a tax they never liked whether they hold a Federal,State or County office!
From the President on down its tax tax and redistribute the wealth mine and yours!

Somewhere, at some PLACE, THE FREE SPENDING HAS TO STOP !

I say, DONT single-out Police...ACROSS THE BOARD CUTS, IN PAY AND BENEFITS! I mean NON-UNION administrators, too !

WE HAVE TO DO THIS TO SURVIVE !

UNIONISM has become the "ticket" for a FREE RIDE !

NO MORE FREE RIDES, FOR ANYONE OR ANY THING !

These unions...ALL UNIONS...are going to enter a Dark Period, and I'm SURE, they will say, it's dark, because we are forced to live on a lower wage, or lower benefits.

BUT FROM THE TAXPAYER PERSPECTIVE, the Dark Period, is because there is NO more money, to pay for Unions, and their UNREASONABLE HIGH BENEFIT PACKAGES, AND HIGH WAGES.

THE REALITY : YOU EITHER ACCEPT LOWER WAGES, OR LOWER BENEFITS, OR YOU HAVE NO JOB !

Mr. Lumpkin,

If you are not satisfied, with how the police respond to a call, ask that the Shift Supervisor, come to the scene.

The reporting officers don't like that, and they will do ANYTHING to please you.

If anything else, you can just say good bye to them, and call up the precinct, and connect with the Internal Affairs Department, and give a complaint...believe me, they fall all over themselves NOT to get those !

Im an ex cop,I wouldnt call IAD,I also didnt mention that the addicts stood in the middle of the street flashing a badge that the police let them keep saying "we are the police" threatening our entire block. The suffolk cops used all the phony tactics to sheet can a job.11 cops and the only collar they were looking for is a discon for the law abiding people. There was a dumb hot female who screamed at me.The biggest loser police department on earth.911 was called numerous times and no patrol supervisor ever showed.

What they forget sometimes, is, WHO THEY ARE WORKING FOR ?

By the way, using an Internal Affairs Complaint, usually "inspires" ACTION. That means, their previous inaction, was FAKE.

Suffolk cops are not only the highest paid in the country, its' department is the most corrupt. Corrupt not in that they take money, (with the money they get, there is no reason to)but in that they do whatever they want or don't do what they are supposed to. It's a tight knit boys club from top to bottom. High speed chases over petty crimes resulting in the death of innocent citizens, and the shooting of unarmed individuals make the papers for one day, then magically disappear. The county pays out and the incompetent rear ends are covered. Two words to the ultimate illustration of not only a corrupt police department but district attorney as well; Martin Tankleff.

Outlaw the SCPD police union. As if them being ridiculously overpaid isn't bad enough, the taxpayers are supporting a whole slew of union workers who do ZERO police work. And on top of that, they get overtime pay for housr they don't even 'work'. They want a union, let them pay for it outta their own overfilled pockets.

Instead of hiring more unnecessary cops, get these jerkoffs in uniform and out on the street.

And vote out the SC legislature, who are nothing but union lackeys and sympathizers, either giving away the store, of shirking their jobs and handing the negotiations over to a 'fair' arbitrator who has a history of ramping up every contract he gets near. VOTE 'EM OUT!!!!!!11

Sounds like someone wishes that they scored a little bit higher on the SCPD test or wished that they were in a little bit better physical shape when push came to shove. LI police jobs are a gift from god, we do police work and investigations for all calls. Not just yours. You seem like the kind of crap that has to bore one of us every time you are in a cops presence about the time you got pulled over and the cop was wrong. Suck it up and look at your tax bill, the number one contribution from Joe taxpayer goes toward the school system. Does each school system need 5 superintendants making $200k a year when you can have a legit one do the work of many. Come on face the truth. The school system is a large problem. TRUTH

Who said anything about calling IAD? You could have called the non emergency # and asked to have a supervisor respond "dumb hot female"? Did you identify yourself to the responding officers? Ex cop? I doubt it! I think you a bit disingenuous or delusional.

22.1% of the entire Suffolk County operating budget goes for public safety which includes Sheriff,Police,Probation and the District Attorney. Where was the outcry when the Suffolk County Police were the "lowest" paid Police Department in the Metropolitan area? While Steve Levy pats himself on the back and campaigns on his record, where? When he voted for the highest tax increase in NY history as an Assemblyman and voted in favor of binding arbitration for Sheriff's contracts. What his claim to fame in Suffolk? Taking the Suffolk Police off LIE and Sunrise? Now the residents of eastern Suffolk County share the tab. Republican or Democrat he is a phony self promoting politician.

what scpd has won thru collective bargaining they deserve. However the public is hurtng and cannot afford the current costs at all levels.all goverments federal, state towns etc.are taxing too much.the end will come soon enough one only has to look at other state and local governments nationally.layoffs, wage freezes, furloughs while i know give back is a difficult word it may be necessary in the near future.
