Juror in White trial says holdouts had ample time

Full story: Newsday 42
A Blue Point man on the jury that convicted John White defended the panel's actions yesterday, saying it gave two holdout jurors ample time to be comfortable with their decision to support a second-degree ... Read more

I am very disappointed with this judgement. As a black man, I want to organize other black people to take off from work rent a bus and go down to Suffolk County to dance and march around and yell stuff...maybe even make posters and hold them up and yell more stuff about our rights and how we are victims.

This is sad. If anyone EVER sat on an improtant jury case, you would know, it is NOT a picnic. It is ALWAYS stressful. What went on in the White jury room, goes on in every tough case.
What gets me about people putting the "race spin" on this is: If a white man shot an unarmed black teenager, the "race spinners" would be crying the teenagers, rights were violated. I truly can't believe how it gets spun in one direction only. I do NOT feel Mr. White should serve a long sentence. However, he DID shoot an unarmed kid (punk or not, racist or not) instead of dialing 911.

If people want racism to stop, I think people need to look in their own backyard. Instead of trying to place blame on other races, take a look at rap music, poverty. Take actions to change. Stop using the "N" word in music. Clean up your own areas. Put money to change neighborhoods. What these marches do is segregate, not bring people together. Lets say Mr. white was purple and the drunk kids were green....The purple man still took the wrong actions. Call 911 and protect if necessary...regardless of words, the simple fact is those punks were unarmed...just as the cops that shot unarmed black men. The standards should not change simply because of color. Understand?????????? Move forward in a positive way, not take a step back and relive a bad past. Times change. So should people.

A tough tough case - nice summation by "Amazing"
It boils down to in my mind not calling the cops and the introduction of the gun.
Mr. White's defense lawyers in my mind out him in a poor position by playing the race card from the first moment and having the Nation of Islam at the trial.
I think they could have made a stronger case by keeping race out of it. I feel bad for Mr. White but he clearly shares a responsibility for what happened. He could have avoided it. Instead both families lose, no winners here.

To the juror that stated that race did not play a part in what happened must be a dam fool or just plain stupid. i also think that Mr. White was very wrong and should serve some time for his actions. But the jury should be honest just as i am it was all about race. And i am black. Maybe some of these kids will
think before they think they are so bad after this.

How cozy it must be to give examples of what black people need to do, but in your racist eyes, what do white people need to do to overcome racism.

I read in one of the stories there were backwards bloodstained footprints in Mr. Whites driveway, from the friend that carried Dano Jr. away..

If true does this imply they were further up the driveway than first thought?

Someone should start a Wikipedia article on this case. Its a better forum. Later it could be compared to other Wikipedia articles like: Joe Horn shooting controversy, Bernhard Goetz, and Channon Christian. Maybe when all the arguements about shooting people and race are done, there can be some sensible conclusions.
