That amount of money would not even cover payroll for a work week. It probably won't change the out come one way or the other.

It is,indeed, a dreadful thing that is happening with ALL of us , in connection with the closing of one of our plants. It will impact so many folks in surronding towns and etc. I do not know exactly where, the folks in Hartwell, Ga., would go to try and find another job; but here in Nebraska, especially Dawson county, we, the majority of us, would have to move. As the county would not be able to absorb 535 job seekers.I do not know what the answer is , and although we are a long ways from where our product goes, I pray that our excellent history,at the
Cozad,Ne.,plant, will be enough to enable us to stay open. The county and all our surronding small communitys depend on this plant.I understand the stress that the folks at the Hartwell plant are under, as we are also dealing with the stress of not knowing what is going to happen, esp. at this time of year. I will be so happy if we are picked to stay open, but at the same time, I, do not, wish a plant closing or job loss on anyone. I hope the decision is made soon, so that we can do what we have to do for ourselves and our families.

Nada, is there really a need to respond with such a cruel statement! It was uncalled for, we are concerned about our jobs, and we feel for each others livlihood....! Your statement is of no use or merit.

Good riddance. That plant was full of misfits, twits, dim bulbs, and dolts.
The Hartwell plant is nly marginally better.

And who would want to live in your messed up, over taxed, elitist class rules, state.
I guess you haven't read any letters from any college age kids lately. They don't even know how to spell!! It is the fault of our school system and teachers that do not care or are unqualified to teach.

Who would want to live in your messed up, over taxed, Scandinavian Socialist Utopia?? I mentioned the spell check because that same poster was chiding someone else for the same thing. Guess the hypocrisy was missed by you.
I DO agree about the poor educational system in this country.

Who is your mother? I know over 400 people that have worked there from about 1986-2002.

Are we talking about the Cozad plant..or Hartwell? At any rate it is not about calling names or putting people down! It is about hoping the plants do not shut down. It is a troubling time. 40 years working at any one plant is a milestone. At Cozad we have many folks that have been there over 30 years and many who have been there over 35years and most of these folks have excellent work historys, as well as the rest of the employees.None of us know for sure what is going on, nor have there been any updates on the situation, and that in itself is very stressful. As mentioned in a above post 1/7/2009 will answer it.

out of 300 we have lost 120 to perment lay offs. that was before the holidays. we have been out since dec. 18th and don't go back til feb.9th. gm cut our production 50% so far. looks like, if we are not shuttered, there will be more lay offs. heard yesterday we could be out 60 days.there were 3,000 people working here at one time and we're down to a work force of 180. how are they going to keep this plant open?

WOW! I had no idea Kettering! That is just awful. Even though we are focused on the auto industry I have also been following the decline of several other industries such as retail, I have seen the reports of several big chain stores closing down and I wonder why thay list how many people are displaced from those closings? This is so much bigger then just the auto ind. but still is history we all get to see happen on a world wide scale, not just in our own backyards. I feel lucky in an odd kinda way :).
