Ozarks Schools Prepare for Possible Predators

Area school officials say they're beefing up security. This comes after authorities found a man trying to lure a young boy from two different school districts .

On 09/30/2008, Joshua Kern went into Elementary, Intermediate and Middle Schools in Aurora, Missouri
and Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Kern gave the name Juston Long.
Kern stated that he was in the process of adopting
either 2 or 3 children from Germany and he wanted to check out the schools prior to the kids moving here.

School officials denied Kern’s request for a tour. Kern then went back to the Mt.
Vernon Intermediate School during
the morning of 10/01/2008 to return required paperwork to the school.
He asked for another tour and was
once again denied. School officials then called the Mt. Vernon Police Department to report the incident.

When Mt.
Vernon police officers interviewed Kern, he admitted that he was at each of the schools on both
dates for the purpose of trying to lure a young boy from the school.
Kern also advised officers that he has previously
pulled his truck into an area near the schoolyard, where he masturbates to the sound of the children playing
during recess.

Kern is 6 ft tall with a medium to heavy build.
He is missing his left index finger, has another crippled finger
along with a tattoo on the left hand. According to Mt.
Vernon officers, Kern has the mentality of approximately
a 15 year old.
He also admits to an openly homosexual lifestyle and to having a sexual interest in young boys,
particularly 10 year old males with light colored hair, yet not blonde. He is not a registered sex offender.
Kern’s
most current address may be either RR 3 Box 9B, Aurora, MO or 11882 State Highway 39, Aurora, MO.

Kern drives a red or maroon 2005 Ford full size quad cab pickup truck with Missouri license #507-PX7.
