I think the whole idea of chargeing $13.50 a month to pick up trash is a bunch of bull. Why didn't the citizens of Baldwin County have a say in this matter? I urge every citizen of Baldwin County to Vote next time every commissioner out of office if not we will be the big losers. We pay enough taxes now guess they going to tax us for the air we breath that flows in the county next.

I agree. I wrote letters voicing my dislike of this decision to each county commissioner and both the assistant counry manager and the county manager. None of them has seen fit to reply.
These politicians are idiots. Many of the county residents are state employees who are taking pay reductions this year. On top of that, we are not receiving a $200 homestead excemption, and has to pay $162 a year for a garbage pick up and I still have to take trash to the recycle center (if I want to remain environmentally conscious).

I hope all the voters get together and vote those jerks out of office in 2012.

We paid less in taxes for a comparable property just outside of Atlanta. We do not have any children in school, the right of way has only been mown once this year, we have a volunteer fire department, we we contribute to and are now restricted in the use of the recycle centers. The recycle containers are locked so you have to sort the glass & plastics into small trash cans. I am afraid this will result in people NOT recycling anything because it is more labor intensive and the county benefits from it in addition to the fees received from the pickup.
Alot of folks have long driveways and hauling that heavy can back and forth is not easy. We now have to place household trash in our vehicle and drive it to the can for pickup, or just drive it to the center ourselves-and still pay for the pickup. Whose family member is benefiting from this contract?
