I thought at first it was bombs/very large explosion. Definitely not thunder;even though, there have been recent storms. I was in basement room that is about 40 feet from water's edge near Twin Bridges.

Sounded like sonic boom but more directional. I was on front porch of our cabin on the lake off or Possum Point road. The second quake was not as loud as the first. First quake was more powerful and sounded like a sonic boom, the second was longer and sounded like the rumble of thunder.

Felt it also....I was on my dock (Cedar Creek just south of twin bridges) sounded like a distant thunder....minor cracks in our drywall....first thought it was Georgia Power blasting.....

We were on the deck over looking the lake and felt it. It didsound like a sonic boom or an explosion. My husband had lived in CA and said it was a earthquake.....of course I responded with ...yeah, right. Maybe I shouold sart listening to him. :-)

We were actually on the lake boating and heard nothing nor did we feel anything. How strange for an earthquake in Georgia but not my first encounter of one. I also felt the one in 2003 that hit in northern-central Georgia.

I was in FL at the time, but my husband called to tell me he felt the house shake and heard a loud rumble. He thought it was an earthquake, but didn't think it was possible in GA. He walked outside and nobody else around us seemed to be bothered. We live off 129 and Burtom Road. I'm glad I wasn't home!
