Millbrook Police Department Welcomes new Assistant Chief

There are 6 comments on the story from Oct 29, 2008, titled Millbrook Police Department Welcomes new Assistant Chief. In it, reports that:

During the Millbrook City Council's meeting Oct. 27, the council appointed a new assistant police chief to replace P.K. Johnson, who was recently promoted to the job of chief of the department. Johnson, who was previously the assistant chief, was promoted to replace Kenneth Bradley, who retired from the position. The council unanimously approved the hiring of Johnny Montgomery to fill the position. Montgomery previously worked the third shift for the department. Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley handed Montgomery his new badge during the meeting and temporarily swore him in to serve in his new position for the next week. On Monday, Nov. 3, the council, who congratulated Montgomery on his promotion, will meet to hold the official swearing-in ceremony. According to Kelley, there will be other changes made as a result of Montgomery's promotion. "We'll be making other promotions soon in the next week or two," he said. "There will be four to six openings." Kelley said he was pleased that the assistant chief's position could be filled from within the department. "I'm proud of his years of tremendous service. He's going to do the job we know he's capable of. I'm extremely pleased and thank the council for their vote," Kelley said. Montgomery, who stood before the council with his wife and children, said he was anxious to get to work. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity," Montgomery said. "I want to do all I can to help out. We're here for the city."
