For three thousand dollars, couldn't the City of Burlingame afford a graffitti artist to scribble on the orange net?

City Manager Jim Nantell said the estimated cost was $3,000 for the poles and $2,500 for security.

Was this the best way for our money-strapped city to spend $5,500?

Poles erected near the Burlingame Caltrain station by the city last week to illustrate what an aerial high-speed rail alignment could look like were taken down on Monday due to safety concerns, according to the public works department.

Only in Burlingame and for the grand bargain price of $5,500.

You voted them in to spend your money foolishly, voting them OUT is not going to fix it!

The woman who wrote in the newspaper today should get her facts correct.

It cost the city of Burlingame NOT $3,000 but $5,500 for four days of story telling.

This may be chump change to some (or a half day train ticket) but not to others.
