Has anyone heard about a dead body being found in the derelict greenhouses at Welwyn Preserve in Glen Cove?
I heard a first-hand account and have not seen this in any local news.

Before I reacted to your low-brow commentary, I made it a point to verify that indeed a body was found in the above location. It was not an accident. It was a corpse. There are no further detail available and it has not been covered online or in print.

There are plenty of incidents occurring at that location, especially now that the weather is better. It is a now a central american vagrant campground and you are referring to a different incident.

I had sex there in the old greenhouse a few years back...in the middle of the day on a lovely, fall afternoon. It was kind of creepy, but sexy at the same time. We had to be careful of all the broken glass around on the ground.
But I can definately see how someone can end up there.
Something needs to be done about that area.

PM Delight: "Something has to be done about that area?" Are you ready to lead a glass cleanup so that the rest of us can use it for a dalliance. A few years ago, I did it with my girlfriend at Cedarmere. We thought we had an isolated place, but two plant lovers came across us in the buff. Oh my, they got their money's worth for the entrance fee!

Me? Why doesn't Glen Cove do something about it?????
We also did it at Teddy Rooveselt Bird Sanctuary in Oyster Bay...which was alot better than Welwyn... a class of young school kids on a school trip almost caught us in the wigwam. That was another beautiful fall day....
Getting back to Welwyn...that greenhouse etc...is rotting away, GC or Nassau County needs to step up and do something about it.

Welwyn should be left alone. Go there at your own risk, yes, I wouldn't say it's the safest of places, however, it should never be changed or "fixed". It is beautiful as it is and very, very unusual. There is much art now, all over all the inside walls and moreover, the vines, trees, weeds and whatnot enhance
this extraordinary gem. Reading, making art, making love, meditating, thinking, having a picnic, taking photos--these are just some of the things that Welwyn's many greenhouses are wonderful for, besides exploring and discovering strange metal findings, mostly from the 50's or so (among other things...)...thats my personal favorite.. Anyhow, I digress, but the bottom line is, if you are not mature enough, do not go there. Be cognizant that you are going there at your own risk and be responsible, the two things Welwyn Doesn't need is litter and hooligans.. haha, seriously though, I go there OFTEN and if it were to be altered in any way, I know MANY people that would be genuinely upset. I would honestly be willing to fight for my sanctuary, I don't want to see a scared few ruin it for the rest of us....

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Leo

There's an erratic quality to the day, thanks to the Full Moon in emotional Cancer, combined with a lunar eclipse. Loved ones are likely to behave in ways you hadn't counted on. The only way to cope with this is to be as flexible as possible. Someone might change an arrangement at the eleventh hour so you have to think on your feet, or others may be determined to do their own thing even though it doesn't suit you. Get any arguments out of the way quickly so you can enjoy your New Year's Eve celebrations with a glad heart.
