Scammers continue to use Craigslist to take advantage of trusting victims. Many are using the name of eBay onlineoutpostdrop-off store chain Online Outpost to further their nefarious schemes.

(Also read: eBay Dropoff Stores Being Used In Internet Scams, Is The Online Outpost an “Incredible Franchise Opportunity”?)

Here are some of the recent comments FranchisePick.com has received regarding Craigslist scams using Online Outpost name.

Patti New says:

I bought a “travel trailer” in March for $2000.00. The guy was “in Hawaii on his honeymoon”. He said he was using the online outpost to handle the actual sale and delivery of the item. Needless to say, I was stupid and sent the money and of course, I just love my invisible trailer. My husband and I got a loan to be able to purchase it. Now, we are still having to pay that off.

Hi Dennis; Unfortuneatly I did get scammed, tried to purchase a peice of equipment off of cragslist, thru online outpost paying thru money gram. After money was sent there was no further contact from seller or online outpost. Discovering after the transaction that all the links to respond to where not ligeate. Such as misspelled words in those links and not the correct spelling for the online outpost website. I am not sure what information you have that could help me but anything is worth a shot. Thanks for your time. Dave

AMPA -- Growth Technologies Inc. plans to drive revenue with the creation of a division to help auto dealers sell cars online.

LotForce.com puts inventory online, both at the dealers' own Web sites and on third-party sites such as eBay Motors, AutoTrader and Cars.com . Services include helping dealers develop an online strategy and providing technical legwork, such as photographing cars, writing listings and posting information, as well as search engine optimization.

LotForce is working with just a few dealerships, including Gulfview Motors in Pasco County, but Matthew Brown, president and CEO of Growth Technologies, said he expects to add 500 to 700 dealerships this year.

LotForce charges $45 to $65 a car with $20 to $30 of that fee going to a subcontractor who takes pictures and handles other details. It's more cost effective than paying someone in-house, said Nelson Valdes, a partner in Gulfview Motors' used car operations. "I'm a car guy, not a tech guy," Valdes said.
Click before buying

Technology is playing an increasingly important role in auto sales. Brown said 80 percent of new vehicle buyers visit automotive Web sites before going into a dealership, and 75 percent of consumers looking for a car dealer use a search engine.

"Last year, my Internet business was 27 percent of the total business and I spent less than 1 percent of my ad budget on the Internet," Valdes said. "By taking another fraction of my ad budget (for LotForce) I can double my Internet sales."

LotForce faces competition from more established firms such as Auction123 in Weston and NetLook in Jacksonville. Brown said those primarily are software firms, while LotForce views itself as full-service, focused on customer service.

LotForce is one of the new services that Brown said would increase his company's revenue, which is now about $2 million in sales annually. Another is SourceHog, an online wholesale product catalog for eBay traders and online sellers, allowing them to buy large quantities of products for a discount and resell at higher prices.
No more gun slinging

Growth Technologies (Pink Sheets: GRWT) is emerging from a four-year transition.

It had been rooted in OnLine Outpost, an eBay drop-off store franchise started by Brown before he decided to focus on technology. The technology he developed now is part of Growth Technologies' AuctionSound division, an application service provider for eBay auction management and consignment.

In 2005, privately owned OnLine Outpost merged with White Knight SST, a publicly traded shell company headed by Tampa investor John Stanton that owned an equity interest in several companies. The merged company was renamed Online Sales Strategies Inc.

In December, OnLine Sales Strategies shareholders adopted the Growth Technologies name and approved a 1-for-250 reverse stock split. John "Jack" McMullen, the retired president and CEO of the Tampa market of Florida Banks Inc., and Marc Fratello, founder, president and CEO of SOE Software Corp., were named to the Growth Technologies board.

"Up to now I've gotten to gun sling, doing what I want to do," Brown said. "Now, we've got business minds in place to discipline me more."

Although previously financed by Stanton, Growth Technologies has a sufficient revenue stream at this point to carry itself, McMullen said. Growth Technologies is bringing its audit up to date and plans to report its financial information to the Securities and Exchange Commission, he said.

The SEC alleges that Pawel Dynkowski, who resided in Newark, Del., carried out the market manipulation schemes with others he met through a penny stock web site InvestorsHub.com , which is operated by Matthew Brown of Aliso Viejo, Calif. Dynkowski, Brown, and other participants in the schemes often timed the manipulative trading to coincide with false or misleading press releases issued by the companies to hype the stock. The four companies were GH3 International, Inc., Asia Global Holdings, Inc., Playstar Corp., and Xtreme Motorsports of California, Inc.
This is the same operation that is being done with Copper King with the merger with WUCC. Wilf stsrted with the false or misleading press releases. That is the excuess MD is using when MD Fired Wilf. However the radio station is still promoting CPRK even though the Radio Station set up the Shell for the Reverse Merger.
CPRK stockholdes are subject to manipulative trading to coincide with false or misleading press releases issued by the CPRK to hype the stock. Most posters on IHub are Pump and Dumpers but they want us to believe that they bought a dump truck load of stock.
IHub should be shut down to stop the Pump and Dump scams as the operater of IHub Matthew Brown has been charged with manipulative trading. It wont be long before the posters for CPRK are charged.
Open your eyes MD is letting this happen to the stockholders.
The model where one unknown and potentially "miss informed" moderator is open to fraud. It is the need of the many which out weighs the need of the few. It is not easy managing an Investors Social Network (I should know check EquityGroups) Investors NEED to hear both sides of the story and REG FD applies. The only information the shareholders have that is valid is HISTORICAL. Safe Harbor provides MANAGEMENT to give guidance, which is only a potential. Stock Message Boards should never be deemed as 100% conclusive but more like a sounding board. An idea exchange if you will. There could be unique functionality provided to CEO's but strict rules apply (I'll be providing many some patent pending as well) FINRA is embracing Social Networks. 17b disclosure requirements, SEC anti-fraud compliance, methods of services provided to the client, methods of dissemination of materials, reports, etc. are not part of the iHub model, I think. If those "moderators" trade the issue that they are moderating ... Well let us see what the SEC does.... I wish the very best for the iHub members. Cheers and STAY PROFITABLE! AJMHO

I paid one time. And they kept taking money from my account.
Instead of refunding any portion of my money, despite the fact that I cancelled within the quarter leaving a month to go on my subscription.
They refused to give my money back.

BBB complaint here I come.

Do not pay a dime for IHUB.

The way they treat their customers smacks of an arrogance that I have rarely seen.

I got the same treatment but I had an entire year left on my subscription. Not a dime has been refunded. If ypu pay for this site, basically you're helping them scam other traders. The Ihub founder has pleaded guilty to charges of a massive pump and dump that netted him and his cohorts over $6 million. The SEC has indicted him for securities fraud including market manipulation and money laundering. Nice guy, eh?

Dan Graves is notoriously known for his improper use of "loose" versus the grammatically correct "lose" in his various messages he posts on public message boards. He thinks nobody knows who he is as he peddles his special brand of defamation.
