Clark, if you move, they win. YOU have every right to live here.
If we all stick together and go to the park mngmt and police and demand something to be done, maybe we can make a difference. WE are better in numbers and I am sure there are more of us then the bad guys.
Maybe we can get deals if we all purchase on video cams for our yards, I now have a sensor light really bright lighting our place we park.
This park used to be nice, WE can make it that way again, but we ALL need to stick together.
Please think about it.
hang in there.

Lauren,
My words exactly. I agree totally. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Watch your kids!!! Enough said.
Lauren wrote:
Ive been around Highland Greens my entire life, and maybe you should be watching your children a little more closely if they're coming home "addicted to ecstasy and willing to do anything for it" it sounds like thats more of a parenting problem to me, rather then the childs. You should know where your childs going if your that concerned, and so quick to blame it on a place of residence. Kind of rediculous. Take responsibility for the fact that maybe your the reason your child ran away to Highland Greens, and would rather be there then with you or maybe you didnt do a good enough job to get her to come home. Highland Greens isn't hell, theres not people knocking door to door selling drugs, or shooting up heroin on your doorstep. Its the parents like you, who let there kids go wherever they want and wont accept the repercussions of where they've been.

well here we go again!! We had our lawn mower stolen right under our nose, our shed was not locked and some punk thought they had access to our shed and our stuff, we just bought that a year ago and alsready gone. I have to agree with all that was written about parental supervision, I don't see any. I also have neighbors that are grown adults and I see them going out every single night and taking what ever they can find, if it has metal on it they will take it, I see them go to empty homes and go through it as if they had permission and bring it all back and go and take off what they won't get any cash for the rest goes to the scrap yard and that is how they get their money. I am not going to turn them in they may have been the ones who took our mower, I do fear what they will do to us. The home across the street has been empty for many years, the park just leaves it sit here, it now has most of the doors taken off and all the scrap metal gone, rails from the porch, doors and it is a real eye sore not too mention a place for kids to go and drink and do drugs.
If there was any way I could move out of here, believe me I would!!

I've lived here for 5 years now and I must say that I've been pretty lucky because knock on wood, my place has not been messed with. I do know that my neighbors party a lot definately pot and probably coke. They have 3 kids ages 13, 7 and 5. I wished they would grow up. I would love to report them but I fear reprisial. My 9 yr. old daughter brought a friend over recently and I asked her if she should call her parents to let them know where she is and she said that her parents didn't care and that she can go any where she wants (9yr old). My mouth must of hit the floor. I totally agree with what people are saying about adults around here need to step up and watch their kids. Parents don't care unless there bothering them. Were hoping to get out of here soon and buy a house. I would say over all that it's not as bad as people say, but I think it varies from street to street. There was kids the other day playing beebee gun war around an empty trailor. Where are the parents!!I have another lady across the street that swears at my children where they go any where near her lawn. What a bitch. Tomorrow I'm going to reem her ass out. I would have to believe that trailor parks are low income housing with all the problems that come with it. If you decided to live here don't be surprized.

I have lived here now 4 1/2 years and the OCS do nothing but bust kids thats it they yell about petty stuff and leave the real crimes left alone. My car was hit by a drunk driver we told the cops where the vehicle went and the cops never even went there to question the people. I sit at the bus stop every morning with my kids to watch people blowing by them at 35+ mph. I have asked the officers patrolling what I can do they say talk to the park. I say I do and the Park tells me its a police matter there is nothing they can do I tell them well will you at least turn in these license plates I have they said NO!! I mean no one cares not anyone that actually do anything that is. We can come up with all the associations we want but the fact of the matter is without the help of some sort of authorities it will do little to no good. The water sucks and is always being turned off. They make me pay for it and I can barely wash my dog in this crap. They charge for evey little thing but don't give it what you are being charged for. Everyone look at your lease we are all being $15 a month for security. We are also being charged for pool matienance and life guard but thats what they say we pay for a pass every year for. I bet they don't even read what is being said about them thats how little they care they are slum lords completely. This is the reason so many mobile home parks get a bad rep. its not so much the people living there as the way they are run. AND yes they do background checks but unless the person commited the crime prior to living here they can not, not lease to them on those grounds.

I have do agree with you Tinkerbel, when I called the cops they did nothing either, I asked if they could go door 2 door asking if anyone had info on my stolen ;awn mower, they just said if they did not answer the door for me then what makes them think they would answer it for them.
And, yes they do background checks, and I know for a fact that also can be done in a deceatful manner, my neighbors, all about 19-20 when they moved in here, and parents signed the lease and fill out credit report. The guy and his younger brother first moved in here and they even stole a car from waterford and had the guts or stupidity to bring it back here in the same bay that they live in.
I think there are many people like us and WE could ALL stick together and start our own patrol, especially at night, and go to the police and then see if they would be willing to work with us, if there would be like at least 20 or more of us I think they could NOT turn us down.
You spoke of the water issue and security, well I have been here 17 plus yrs now, and I paid a $50 security deposit on cable which they stopped long ago and I never saw my deposit again, when I asked them about it they said well it has been way too long, I SHOULD have got my deposit back PLUS intrest!!! I have NEVER heard of being able to keep a deposit, maybe we all should go seek an attorney's advice, maybe we have some sort of class action suit. If we are paying for security guards, well they re-did the shack and lit it but that was the end of it, NO ONE PERSON EVER goes in there and have not for yrs now!!! And what about how they plow these roads, I live in a bay and they come and plow one strip, I have spinal cord injury and have a really hard time shoveling and then they came and bury my car again and again, even if we move the cars they have NO clue that they should shovel where NO cars are.
I tell you what, IF I owned this park, I would FIRE every single employee that worked for Highland Greens and SCREEN ALL new ones and hire the ones THAT care about making this a better place not only to work but to live!!!!
Tinkerbell let me know if you would be willing to start something, we have to at least try, IF everyone always threw their hands up in the air WE would NEVER have any good or new change, I say lets form a concerned group and keep growing for the positive, anyone willing to join me???
I have been racking my brains out trying to come up with topic for a blog I wanted to start, well here it is, do I have any followers???????

I Have never lived in Detroit so I can not speak of how bad it is, but I have lived here for over 17 yrs also, I don't know what street you live on but the street I live on is actually a bay that consisted of 8 homes, when I moved in here there were 8 homes, now there are 6 homes, one in which no one has lived in for many, many yrs now, it has been stripped clean, they even took the side door for cash, and though I cannot prove it, I think it was my neighbors rommies, and mind you they are in their 50's at least and do not work. I ave watched them every single morning drive their truck up to the shed and empty it, they bring in all kinds of appliances, anything that has metal on it, they bang, hammer until it is all broke up, and I sit and listen and watch.
When I moved here the yards looked great, everyone actually cared about what they looked like, now they drive on the grass, park on the grass so much that all the grass is gone. Garbage gets thrown on the ground, and never gets picked up. The home next to me has stuff, I have no idea what it is, all over its deck, and it has been there all summer long, and I guess it has been there for so long that I think they think it is part of the deck, it gets walked over many times, and I know the see it cuz they let their dogs out every single day.
I have driven through this whole park amny times and I can see how it has gone down hill, I cannot count how many homes are missing skirtting, in desperate need of a coat of fresh paint in which I got a write up to paint MY shed and my neighbors all around me NEVER got one, I know this because I got mine last spring and painted it right away and theirs are still in worst shape then mine ever was, and still is that way. I never called the park and asked why I was the only one made to paint, I have leaned some things are left better unsaid, things can get far worse if one stirs the pot.
Enough said, I just hope more people open up their eyes and are willing to unite to make this a better place to live.

I am a local business owner and have many customers who live in the greens as they like to call it. Its sad because I do hear people say at one point that park was nice, clean, and safe. But I can tell you from the customers that I see who come into my business are trash. That place is known for herion, I have all sorts of junkies, alcoholics, and felons who come in that live in the greens. I've driven through there a few times and seen it. It definitely would not be my first choice. I have also heard how they recently put water meters on the trailers which I think should be against the law since we have well water here in highland township. The town is trash, the people are weird, very weird. Its a pontiac of white people. Anyone who is offended by this post should be, open up your eyes, read the milford times crime section, get to know your neighbors, I hear Oakland county sheriffs, the EMS and the fire dept all day driving towards the greens. I dont trust majority of the people who I have met who live in that park. Its just the truth... If you dont agree with this I guarantee you are one of them, or your just blind.

I am the one who lives in highland greens for many yrs now, and still are here, NOT by choice trust me, it is either here or the streets. I had to go on disability so does that make me low life or "TRASH" as you put it. I feel I honestly care about what my home and yard looks like, even though most do not. My neighbor has had garbage on his deck for weeks and weeks now, and noone seems to care.
What is the name of the business you own here in highland?? Or do you not want to be named for stating these things that you said. Still even though their are so may people that live here and I must admit I would rather them not, BUT I do not call them trash, it just is not right.
So the people that you call trash come and support you at your business? They put food in your mouth, I bet you are so nice to their face, hmmmmm.
I wish this park is what it once was a long time ago, but it is what it is, and I still will be who I am , I will continue to try and be friendly, and when I bake an extra loaf of bread I am the first one to share it. I think we ALL must try a little kindness, we all will get so much further, and be a lot more happier.

I didnt say everyone who lived in the greens was trash, maybe if you read my post a little carefully you would have understood it. There are other places you can choose to live at for around the same price as the greens. I know tons of people who live in the greens as they're my clients and even they themselves agree that the place is trash.

I lived here for about a year with my boyfriend and his son. He owned a very nice trailer and yes, there are A LOT of trashy people in the neighborhood, but I never had any problems with break ins or seeing drug use. There are teens walking around smoking and clearly a lot of poor off families that are not great parents. We did not belong in there and did not want to raise a child in that community and ended up moving. If it's all you can afford, it's a decent place to live. But I would not want my child growing up with some of the kids in there that are being raised poorly and carelessly. WIth that being said, you cannot judge everyone that lives in there and stereotype them into the "trashy" category. We are very classy people and have nice things and my boyfriend and I have both never done a single drug in our lives. So, that goes to prove that not everyone in there can be grouped with this bad impression others are making for us. Don't judge until you know!

I have a good friend who lives in this park. All her neighbors are on parole, most for sex crimes. Drugs are rampant and YOU have people running around fighting and threatening others lives. This used to be a nice place, not anymore. Try to report this to the office manager and YOU get the brush off. I guess they don't care they have trash living amongst good, decent people!

I don't know how the park is today but when we lived there between 1995 to 2004, the street we grew up on was actually pretty nice. All the parents knew where their kids were and the kids were all well behaved. The whole time we lived there were only two break ins and each time the guy was caught by the police. Just the other day I was visiting a friend there and decided to check out my old neighborhood. When I turned down the road, there are now only three houses left and our old home has become a dump. Both my home and the one next to it is all boarded up and has broken windows.it was a sad sight to see since that neighborhood was actually pretty nice when we had lived there.

My husband and I moved in here because it was the cheapest place close to where I work. We were made aware a murder took place in our trailer , but would be cleaned before we moved in. The murder took place in January and we were moving in June 15th. Well when we moved in there was a pile of clothes in the front room and a bloody chair and blood all over the wall and the floor!!!! As we were picking up the clothes we found that there was blood ALL over them and it soaked through the carpet and the smell was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Well my husband and I went up to the office and told them and all they said was oh well it's not our job and told my husband and I to just bleach it and put Kills on it! Yeah my father-in-law is a cop and he was pissed we had our friends here helping us because this place was no help. It was the cheapest place that we could afford so we didn't fight too much. It's been 4 years and we've decided to get out. Especially now that we have children...NO ONE should have to go through this ever! STAY AWAY FROM HIGHLAND GREENS!!!
