Character First
Do you remember when or remember hearing about when no one locked home or car doors, when a person's word was as good as a signed contract, when children could walk to school without their mothers worrying if they would make it safely? To most people today, such concepts belong to the past - but it does not have to be that way. House keys and alarm systems are unnecessary if citizens RESPECT one another's private property. Lawsuits over breach of contract would be unheard-of if TRUTHFULNESS were pervasive. Children could skip down city sidewalks unattended if the general populace had INTEGRITY.
I wonder if this would include some of the ones promoting the program.
Do as I say not as I do.
The Community’s across the U.S. and several cities are well on their way to becoming Character First Businesses, Industries and Families. ". But do you no all facts and at what cost it’s taking to promote the program. And who is behind it?

It’s supposed to be a non profit org.
Building Communities of Character Conference

The 2007 Building Communities of Character will take place September 19-21 in Oklahoma City.

Look at cost of registration. The next conference is scheduled for 2009! Registration is $375 per individual, with a $60 discount for groups of 5 or more.
That’s not including books and other material that’s being purchased to be used to teach in schools by law.

Lets take a closer look at some legislation
Oklahoma: 1999 legislation, HB 1765, authorizes district school boards of education to develop and make available character education programs. The local school boards of the school districts of this state may develop and implement a comprehensive program for character education in grades K-6. This program shall focus on students’ development of character traits, the kind and manner found in available curriculum.“It being immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect.”

My Questions:
1.How would it be immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety ? We are talking about a school grades k-6 are we not?
2.What an emergency is to be declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect ? Who would declare it ? Would it be the same people placed in positions that have been promoting his program ? Instead of serving the people in the courts up holding their rights or freedoms.
3. Whereof this act shall take effect. Meaning no vote by the people will be needed kind of like military law.

Gothard's "Army"
Gothard operates what appears to be a paramilitary-like training school for teenagers on a 2,200-acre former college campus in Big Sandy, Texas, as part of his ALERT program (Air Land Emergency Resource Team)-- purportedly for domestic missions work via the providing of disaster relief and humanitarian aid (see second paragraph of Endnote #9). Gothard states that "ALERT is an intensive program in which young men [male graduates of ATI] ages sixteen and older are trained in Biblical principles, Godly character, and practical skills. ALERT utilizes military disciplines to train young men to restore life, rather than take it, and to bring peace and encouragement to those in distress. The present program involves the following phases:(1) Discipline: in physical strength, endurance, and self-control; (2) Skills: in a wide range of vocational specialties; and (3) Emergency Services: in response to calls from cities, states, and nations." (Source: IBLP Internet web site, 8/97.) As of July, 2000, the program had 181 enrolled and 600 graduates.

Since the hyper-spiritual warfare motifs of the Latter Rain movement are beginning to take a sinister shift towards actual military, Gothard's involvement in paramilitary-like things causes us to wonder if there is a connection. Don't forget that Joel's Army has a "chosen seed" (the coming generation) to carry out its purpose on earth, which is dominion (both physical and spiritual). In this context, Christians should have some grave concerns about Gothard's activities.

Along these lines, Gothard has clearly bought into the "Christian America Myth" (ATI Wisdom Booklet 53). He believes that "Christian" conviction can be equated with Biblical faith. But, all religions offer some form of moral basis for society. Christian conviction cannot save a nation that continues to reject true faith in Jesus Christ. America flourished upon a "Biblical ethic" that has sustained it until recent years. But a Biblical ethic is not necessarily evidence of a Biblical faith.

City councilman are doing a really great job Of changing the look of the city. There has been several changes to the little community. New homes have occupied some of the empty spaces of the city. Removal of some of the non repairable houses and clean-up of properties.
