I heard there was a fight at the softball fields the other night and a game got stopped because of it. The youth pastor from Temple got mad because they were losing and he tore up the dugout. He was shaking the fence and yelling like a toddler throwing a tantrum. Then their pastor got involved and started saying horrible things to a player from the other team. The umpire had to end the game to stop a fist fight from breaking out. So disappointing to see this from church league softball.

Not surprised at all, the kids learn from the best. We see it all the time in MSSD. The "Christian" kids are the worst bullies around. But just ask them if they believe in Jesus, they'll say yes.

They obviously don't believe in what Jesus taught, they just believe he existed or something. When it comes to how they act, they must not actually read The Bible in most churches in Milan. They just see other idiots saying to believe in Jesus, yet treating others like dirt.

Yes you are so right. They hear about Jesus and know about him but don't read the bible enough to be able to act like him. I guess the pastor & youth leader fall into the same mold. Is this what our churches have become? You can't escape this behavior even at a "church" softball game. Wonder what all the other church teams thought about this.

These are supposed to be men of God? Wow! If this is how "Christians" behave I'm uber glad that I've avoided organized religion, especially at Temple Baptist.

My oh my, did we hit a nerve? If nothing happened then why defend them? Enough people were there to know the truth. You shouldn't have to defend anyone.

now this I can believe. In the past The other church would let anyone play on their team, Christian or not, as long as they are good. Then when a fight/argument broke out and slang words were said or things were thrown at the other teams' dugout they had to calm the players down and apologize. First and foremost if this is going to be a church league lets start out with Christian players. Then always start the games out with a pep talk about keeping good Christian attitudes no matter what the outcome of the game is. Remember.....if you are on a Church team you are representing that Church on and off the field. Not to mention when you represent a Church (body of Christ) you are also representing Christ. Is he or would he be pleased?? If not maybe someone should consider taking "church league" off the title and just have teams at least then non Christians couldn't bash Christianity by the actions of the players. Jesus deserves a better reputation than this.

There are no "non Christians" playing on the other team. The Bible warns about judging another mans salvation and you are on dangerously thin ice. I know exactly why this fight started. Temple was angry because a former member of their church was playing for the other team. Someone who is very gifted in sports. They were angry to have lost him and they started mouthing that he wasn't really going to the other church. Let me assure you he is. He and his wife attend very faithfully both on Sundays and Wednesdays. I don't know what kind of man he has been nor do I care. What matters to God is what kind of man he is trying to become.

Sports in general are very competitive. That doesn't change because you put "church league" in the title. The other team is just as competitive as Temple's team. Their pastor yells and gets excited just like everyone else. BUT I have never seen him yell at someone from the other team. He riles up HIS players rather tha attack others. Temple's pastor and youth pastor took out their aggression on the opposing team. Notice some of the other posts above? Temple's youth pastor has a history of outbursts. That is very unfortunate. He damages his own credibility in the community.

Bottom line is there has always been and will unfortunately likely continue to be contention between these two churches. Everyone in this town knows that. Temple runs the church league and yet cannot manage to win it. Honestly I foresee them stopping it. Heaven knows if I was doing something I could not win and it brought such negative light to my church and staff, I would stop too.

Why would he need to defend himself? If he were a real minister he would know how to conduct himself as a Christian!

Who gives a rats ass about softball anyway? It's not like you can get a job at it. Summer is the time for kids to be having fun, not living their parents dead dreams.
