Why are we worring about a statue and not worring about JOBS.

Because there is nothing we can do about the jobs. They have all moved to the Pacific Rim and they are NEVER coming back....

I can think of better ways to spend that kind of money in an economy like ours...but that's just a working man's two cents! Can I borrow a dollar?

Hopefully they pay an Ohio sculptor the $500k. What are they doing with the old statue?

I would be honored to have the statue of Gov. William Allen in my yard. It would keep the crows away.

We aren't worrying about the statue. The money for this venture is not public money, so why are you worrying about that?

While Edison is worthy of the honor, he was only raised in Ohio. Most, if not all of his inventions and fame occurred while outside of Ohio. Sure the Wrights first flight was in NC, but its design, build, and training, along with subsequent flights were in Ohio. Edison's were mostly in NJ.

I voted for Sir David McFudpucker, he was a heckuva guy. He was the brains behind Edison. Got ripped off by his friend and partner and got none of the credit.

Give it to Orville and Wilbur Wright! Edison spent his first few years, until he was seven, in Ohio. His family then moved to Port Huron, MICHIGAN! The Wright brothers did their work here and they deserve the honor. This is as bad as North Carolina using them on the state quarter. What next? Florida having a statue to Neil Armstrong because he took off from there? The committee is way off, and no donation from me.

I didn't even know Edison was from Ohio. Had to Wikipedia him. It mentions he was born in Ohio but grew up in Michigan. My vote goes to the Wright brothers. Only one of the Wright's was born in Ohio, but both grew up and lived their lives in Dayton. To me they are far more Ohioans than Edison is. And to the rest of the country people know where the Wrights came from. How many people know Edison's birth place.

Too bad it is only a statue. Our government is distorted by having too many lawyers in office, we need more with technology and production experience.

Compared to some on the list, it could have turned out much much worse.
