There have been posts on other sites justifying the murder of Mr. Hockenberry. These posts have focused on Mrs. Smith's injury, allegedly from a t.v. tray. According to police reports, she had an injury to her arm. I implore you all to remember that there are 3 children that have lost their father at the hands of their grandmother. They do not need to read comments condemning either.

I just think it is terrible that someone could just shot someone like that and take away a very loving father of three children, for who know what the reason is. It is just plain stupid and I don't understand what this world is coming to, the end of times is so near. People we need to start getting along with others and make the best of whatever the situation is or get out but deliberate murder is not the answer.I hope all the truth comes out and justice is served. She needs to pay for her crime and any others that are involved.

well I know this grandmother, and she has never done anything like this before. You do not know Brenda nor do you know Michael. Yes I agree that killing another person is no way to solve a problem. But when you see your kid in an abusive relationship and you feel there is no out for them, some times as parents, parents do think. But I do know that not only has Michael's kids lost out so has Brenda's as well as the spouses.

I also know Brenda and served under her leadership in a religious organization many years ago. I knew her to be a very loving and protective mother of 5 children. I knew her to be someone who loved deeply and had strong opinions on life, raising children, homeschooling, and character. I don't believe Brenda to be a malicious person, but also do not condone the behavior she exhibited that took L's husband's life either. I am not blameless in my life and not my job to judge Brenda or Gary for their faults...we all have them! I pray that this family has found a way to move on as best they can despite having to live with the consequences of their choices many years ago. I also pray that Mr. Hockenberry's family is able to find peace as well. Situations such as this never have a winner...everyone loses! In their lives previous to this...each of them have touched the lives of many in their lifetime. Brenda was a pastor, mother, wife, and friend to many. I'm sure the same could have been said about Michael, although I didn't know him. Today I see sadness bc all have lost someone in this situation bc of bad choices. Just really really sad!
