Sophia Police Gestapo tactics

I was pulled over recently, and the officer stated it was due to "defective equipment". I asked what was wrong so I could rectify it, and he stated it was "the lights". There wasn't anything wrong w/ any of the lights/turnsignals/brake lights that I could see. Heck, I had just had the car inspected!...He then proceeded to search myself and the car, and found nothing. This happened late at night, so the following morning I went to the police station and had the office on duty check all my lighting equipment so I could fix whatever problem there was, and HE couldn't find anything wrong either. Can the cops pull you over for whatever reason they want to makeup just to conduct a search, or harrass you? At some point will they resort to "planting" illegal items in your car? And you know who you have to go to to discuss any issues don't ya? Them. They are the judge and jury. Does anyone else think that there could be corruption a-brewing in our lil' town?

My friend was pulled over for "speeding", which she was not. Other cars were infact passing her own when the Sophia Police pulled her over. They searched her, her car, and even went through her cell phone asking her "who's this"..."and who's this"... They target folks, and are conducting themselves in pure violation of out civil rights. It's like the old west; whom do you turn to if you don't have enough $ for legal representaion??? Is (ahem) officer Sweeny getting too big for his breeches? I only see him sitting along side the road yacking away on his cell phone, or talking w/ chicks who are leaned over into his car window. If you don't know which one Sweeny is that will help you id him. Oh, and he has a huge, bald, purple head.

Well if there was ever a time to come into play again as another (Adolf Hitler) these guys sure do fit the bill.
How can you win a case that your honest and done nothing wrong, when their entire posse is buddy buddy with this one and that one and everyone knows everyone?
There is no escape from it.
One of these days they will make a mistake that might just cost them.
Wearing the badge anymore now days is nothing more than a new hidden society of mafia that the people just have not figured it out yet, but they will.
If you have to go to court get an out of town Lawyer.

I've been pulled over in Sophia and given tickets twice. Both times it was my fault and the officers were only doing their job.When folks drive through Sophia they know to slow down which makes the streets safer. I'm sure there are drugs in Sophia but I guarantee not like other small towns in WV.

Instead of pulling people over for no reason the police need to focus on the real problem in Sophia, DRUGS!!!!! There are many concerned neihbors in Sophia and have reason to be.

i was told that the sophia police patrol rt.16 from sophia to the red light in crab orchard. i asked if i had someone breaking in on me,would they come to my aid if i called them. they said they didn't have jurisdiction off the four lane.i have witnessed them sitting on the little general lot and chase cars up fearn st. and write tickets. maffi tactics for sure.

you must not watch the news because they have made several drug arrests in the last couple of weeks.. you probably are part of the real problem in sophia..your big ass mouth! shut it and get some facts before you speak1

The police have the right to search within arms length inside the car when they pull you over. If they ask if they can search tell them no...NEVER say yes. Be smart you have a cell that they can not search. Use the voice record and/or video to record the conversation and search. This your right to gather evidence in your defense.

Actually police searches are a little bit broader than that..where do you get your information? you need to do your research on search and seizure before you comment about it. Alsso the U.S. Supreme Court had heard several cases and have backed the police.

The thing is I live in Sophia. I know the cops. The are all corrupt. Every last one of em. Sweeny was kicked off the Beckley Police Dept. Before he got the cheif of police position here. All they care about is riding around and playing cops and robbers. To them it is a huge game and there is nothing we can do about it.

It doesnt matter if your part of the problem or not. They are Corrupt.....

All the police officers in Sophia still hold their certifications from the State of West Virginia and they have another due to graduate from the academy so they all are legitimate..If you dont like it go to the state and complain and see how far it goes..stop your bitchin!!!!!
