Jena 6 case ends with no jail time

Five members of the Jena Six pleaded no contest Friday to misdemeanor simple battery and won't serve jail time, ending a case that thrust a small Louisiana town into the national spotlight and sparked a massive civil rights demonstration nearly two years ago.

Remember, if your a Minority you get away with crimes. it was outrageous to charge them with attempted murder, but this sentence was equally outrageous. These "Jena 6" attacked an innocent young boy without provocation as a gang, they should atleast have gotten some sort of meaningful probation. What is the lesson to Americas youth here? If your black and claim Rasism you get off scott free.

My favorite part of this whole saga was when the civil rights marchers tried to use "Alleged" racial harassment by whites, who had nothing to do with this kid they attacked, as justification for this attack. My father has stories from Brooklyn back in the 70's of being attacked for no reason and robbed by African Americans, and when the cops would show up the "But he called my boy" defense was accepted as justification, eventhough it was a total lie.

The second moral of this story: White people, Watch out! If an Islamic terrorist or just a black guy with a grudge wants to attack you because of your skin color not only will he receive light punishment, no one from the national news media or some fancy political action team is coming to help you!

Why didnt CNN or MSNBC or even the President call that Islamic Terrorist in Arkansas who gunned down those two soldiers exactly what he was, a Terrorist?

We are entering an era where Terrorists are "Causers of Man Made Disasters" and where Racial Justice only applies if your a Minority. The Jena 6 case has given enough fuel to the White Power movement to propetuate those morons for another few years by itself. Why do you think we are seeing an explosion in white supremist activity? Your seeing the "black panther" effect of the 60's and 70's in whites now because the pendulum is swinging the other way, and because it is a natural reaction for Americans to band together and fight injustice even when its government wont.

Racism, like justice, is blind. These six black thugs committed a terrible crime only because their victim was white.

this is a hate crime, one of racial hate, and thee 6 should be prosecuted as such. Whether the color is reversed, this is still a hate crime and these 6 men should pay the price as all people are suppose. As sad as I am to see them walk away as sub-culture heroes, I am gladdened by the fact that animals of their ilk will be in jail in the future for something sooner or later. It's the natural progression of their types.

But it did end with jail time. Bell served 18 months, and these boys were forced to falsely admit that the accuser did not say racial comments or provoke them in anyway. There is still huge injustice and racism in this case. The defendants were still forced to pay money and also pay an undisclosed sum to the Barker family. Had this been the other way around, where Barker beat up one of the 6, no charges would have been filed by police, he wouldnt have served a second in jail, and he wouldnt have paid a penny in anyway - to the court or to one of the 6. And it is ridiculous the court is charging the 6 young men money for its own racist procedure and its own doing. The boys were innocent since the beginning, it is disgusting how corrupt and racist parts of this country still are.

Hate and bigotry does not exist in a single race. It is not exclusive to one racial, religious, or political affiliation. The sentence given to these individuals is not a just one nor can it be viewed as a deterrent to others. Jesse Jackson displays his true colors by his inaction to protect the rights, and seek justice for all individuals. He's a political cherry picker, and a tick on the orifice of society.

If 6 white men attacked one black man because of his skin color as a gang...your telling me they wouldnt see jail? Your NUTS! a 1 on 1 fight for any reason is different than a gang of thugs, be they white, black or any color attacking a single person. Each of them should have gotton jail time, atleast in this case it will be on their record so when they commit future crimes the punishment will be harsher.

Does anyone remeber how this whole event started? The white students at the local high school thought it would be funny to hang a hangman's noose from a tree on the campus that they had claimed for themselves. I do not condone violence of any kind but please do not say that those kids were not provoked. The legal fees had to be extensive and jail time that ALL of the kids did was probably added as time served. They certainly did not get away without any punishment.

I recall just a few short years ago, 2 white young men beat a black young man in the area of chicago,s mayor Daley's neighborhood. both white men where charged with attempted murder. And i remember 1 recieved 10 years in prison. i dont remember what the other recieved. it was national news all through the trial. so your "if it had been a white man who beat a black" crap is a lie. no wonder the black community is having the problems they do. It,s idiots like you living amongst the decent honest blacks. You sir are an idiot.This was a hate crime and the perp,s where treated like victim heros.
