He died of a seizure not because of the jailers. And who really cares....for one if he wouldnt have murdered his girlfriend he wouldnt of been in there in the first place and second, that's less of our taxpayers money for a worthless human being.

What a lousy debater you are, your heartless opinion is as valuable as your own damned life, although the man was charged with a crime he is still entitled to certain legal and civil rights, I'm sure you'll want the same rights to protect you God forbid you land yourself in jail. Get a life you idiot!

There is no debate here...the man was guilty of murdering his girlfriend in cold blood. He shot her multiple times while she was 100 yards away from her own driveway at her gated community! I know the girlfriend and the murderer - he knew he was on his way to the death chamber and took the cowards way out. the trial would have been a formality and torture for her surviving family. There is a two-year old little girl with no parents now because he couldn't let his girlfriend go when she wanted to take a break. I know her and love her and miss her terribly. What if it was your daughter that was killed is such a horrible way right outside your door?!

What I mean is that every one should be entitled to equal rights, and the jailers... as professional as they claim they are, should have taken corrective action to avoid such catastrophe.

It boils down to liability, violation of legal and civil rights and who bears the blame, my heart goes to the mourning families, yet... if the legal system holds us accountable before the law... we should all shold the legal system accountable before justice, it's only fair, don't you think???

Top Critic-- You're right. "The jailers shouldtake corrective action to avoid such catastrophe."
The jailers in question performed twice as many time checks an hour as the state requires.(State jail standards: 1/hr. DCSO standards: 2/hr, unless on suicide watch, in which it goes to 4/hr or even 6/hr, 12/hr, or even more.)
There are over 1100 inmates at the DCSO Jail. There are about 200 jailers, who meet the state requirements for jailers per inmates. Tarrant County and Dallas County jails were unable to meet the state jail standards on the first try the last couple of years, but Denton managed.
Not mentioned in the story is why the inmate was found in distress. If I had to guess, he committed suicide, and they almost caught it in time.
They had him in a separation cell for his safety. The jailers at DCSO actually don't beat up their inmates (most of the jailers are just kids and retirees, with little physical interaction training.).
Sure, they could do better. They might have. But in the end, they were holding him because a judge had ordered them to do so (by warrant), and they tried to save his life. I agree that due process applies, but you're showing off a bit of a knee-jerk response here, aren't you?

You might be right, I pay taxes in this county and I have great expectations for our law enforcement, I appreciate the great service they do for the community believe it or not, but... I also expect some sort of respect and responsibility from law enforcement, while the man had in fact been responsible for a crime, they should have been able to spot a potential problem before the man even had a chance to take his own life.

Law Enforcement officers are trained individuals on their field, they are trained to read peoples body language and also trained to decipher what an individual might say during a statement.

This is where a proactive approach becomes reactive, in other words... I should have never happen, someone dropped the ball and should be held accountable, just like the drunk driver that kills a bystander or the doctor who performs a bad surgery on a patient and the patient subsequently dies...

It's a matter of professionals held accountable for their actions, let's not look for a route out getting the blame, let's find a way so that the problem does not occur again, otherwise we will find ourselves with a bunch of baton toting punks whom specialize in nothing but speed traps on I-35W .

Wow Albert maybe you should learn to spell and not worry about an inmate having a medical problem that had nothing to do with the fact he was in jail for killing another human. Any time you want to stop beating your wife or kids long enough to have your ass beat by a man just reply and I will hook you up fuckface! oh and merry xmas ...bitch
