I live south of Bremen and I can't beleive how fast these cars are going down the side streets. God forbid if you don't move over, they think they own the street. We had a guy hit a tree head on trying to turn the corner, dummy.....

We need to put some speed bumps on the streets that are really long, maybe after needing an alignment or 2, they will slow down.....

I live on the only street that goes straight through from Crawford to Cicero and cannot believe the number of people that fly down my street. There is one guy that used to go through the stop sign by my house every morning at about 30mph. I haven't seen him for a little while. He would go by at about 5:45 every morning.

I volunteered my driveway for the police to nail this guy and they declined.

Sometimes I sit on my deck with my radar gun and have some fun with that!(I use it when I teach fast pitch softball pitching).

Maybe the PD will put their "Speed Trailer" by you just to reming the drivers. I like the idea of your speed gun:):)
You have to remember on your side is Midlo going East, on the side going West, is CW.

I personally hate speed bumps. I think they are terribly annoying for those of us that didn't break the law that warranted them, but if you're having that bad a time I guess they might just need them.

Ok, Only Street, I guess I was wrong. 143rd is half Crestwood's deal, I am on 144th and I meant to say the only street north of 147th.

Sorry WW1, I am on the other end of the street! Yes, playing with the radar gun is fun, especially when cars have radar detectors and wonder where it's coming from. I have been flipped off quite a few times!

I do live by 143rd, and ever since they widened the street, it's been horrible. I listen to the engines whine from the stop sign at Kenton, and I swear these cars have hit 40mph by the time they get the 1/2 block to Kolmar. The school is right there and a couple of parks nearby. There are a few kids that live between Kilbourn and Kostner on 143rd who's parents can't be bothered to watch them (they're maybe 9 years old), and one day one of them is going to be seriously injured or possibly killed by one of these morons. I've actually called Crestwood Police (it's on their side) to go talk to these kids to avert a disaster. I'd rather have them talked to by an authority figure than their parents who apparently are too busy to make sure their kids don't get run over by a car.

I saw that Crestwood put a speed trap on Kenton at about 142nd street, but it's not on. Just a decoy. Speeding does seem like a chronic problem in this town, there have been discussions about it before.

So, closer than what I thought. I pass by all the time. Now I know what you mean about the deck and radar gun. A few weeks ago about 5 a.m. when I leave, someone was pulled over by us so, they're out there at that time. I know a few times when I open my garage door that early, a spotlight is shining at me until I wave. I'm glad they know the movements of our neighborhood.

instead of complaining on a web blog, write a letter to the saftey committee, attend a village board meeting. Let your voice be heard by everyone, not everyone reads this blog site.

So I guess you're a mental midget then since you're on here reading it right? And a lot of posters do go to the meetings, the police can't be everywhere all the time. Last time complaining was done on this forum about speeding on Kenton a police officer was there the next week pulling people over , thats a fact right WW1? So the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

But, you would actually be surprised who does read these Blogs. And No, trust me, they are not mental midgets. And wouldn't a lot be surprised IF there was a Speed trailer set up if only for a few days since the kids don't have School the rest of this week. Good time to catch some speeders.

It didn't even take a week until results were showing.
Like I say, I know who reads these posts and again, they aren't "midgets".

there are several people who read these posts and the majority of them are concerned people who would like to see a better quality of life in the community they live in. As for the sppeders on the side streets, if possible get the plate number and report it to the police. I am sure they can run it send that person a warning. It is amazing how when people are identified and confronted it makes them think twice about there actions. Also if it is at a certain time of day and on a regular basis, call the police and inform them of that. As stated before the police can not be everywhere all the time, so lets lending them a helping hand and a set of eyes. This is our village and our responsibilty.

We have had the little speed trailer, that does nothing. People know that is just for show, now if it had a camera on it and you got mailed a ticket we might be onto something..

Your right the police can't be everywhere and they have to be told, but when you do let them know, still nothing, you get tired of talking to deaf ears. I have gone to meetings and shared my concerns. Hopefully these speed demons will not cause harm to a child or others.

Since it's our Village and our responsibility as you say, does the same hold true for "scofflaws" who run a business out of their house? Say, trucking company, mechanics, day care, puppy breeding and don't have a Village license or pay Village taxes.

Well, if you have such knowledge of said "Scofflaws", than I guess it would be up to you to do what you need to do.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Virgo

Unfortunately, this looks like being another difficult day, and, as Mars turns retrograde, certain people are quick to take offence or raise their voices. Make sure you aren't adding to the tension by doing or saying something that's provocative or even downright insulting. If you get involved in a shouting match it will be difficult to stop and you could say some nasty things in the heat of the moment.
