House Of "Hughes"??

When my little sis was graduating years ago, my dad took her there because that's what she picked. It was expensive, and they both disliked the food they got. This was of course when it was still house of hughes. It's been just hughes for some time now, but even from the outside you can tell it's not kept up like it used to be. I wondered if ownership changed too because the old house of hughes was fancy and would never have stuck a cheap beer banner to its sign. The rate they're going they might close soon.

Another victim of the economy, what is one of the first thing people cut, dining, especially fine dining. I would bet their revenue has fallen 50 percent in the last 2 years, it sure would not surprise me.

The original owners sold a few years back and the new ones just kept the name Hughes and dropped the House of. The food never really impressed me either.

They were well known for their outstanding prime rib steaks. I went there and ordered one and was told they were out of it.....so I had the ribs and they were very good!

I asked how they could run out of one of their "signature dishes" and really got no answer.....

I have lived in Midlo for over 40 years and been there 3 times!

I was there a while back and was disgusted with the service and the food! It definitely changed, it use to have great food, service even tho it was a bit pricey it was well worth it now I wouldn't let my dogs eat there.

My husband and I went there for NY Eve. I ordered the prime rib (used to be my all time FAVORITE) and it was terrible. I was sooo sick when I went home. I think the meat was either old or ??? Won't be heading back there anytime soon. Disappointing...

The buffet on Sunday's is pretty good and not too expensive earthier . Plus they have entertainment. Maybe when the " No tell" Motel opens they will have a special like Poppa Joes in Orland has with the Essence hotel.

Better close before the whole canopy falls down and injures someone. Ever since the owner changed downhill would be the word.

Yes, another victim of the economy.

The basic operating costs of utilities, taxes and general maintainance are quite large for a property that size.

It was quite a nice place to go for many years. I am sorry to see that the owners had to close the doors.

If I am not mistaken isn't that actually in Crestwood. I've never been there always seemed too expensive as a teen and now with attention to details in life i.e. mortage, car payment, credit card bills, ect. Definitly no room for a meal like that. The last and only time I've been able to pull off the candlelight dinner for two was at Courtwrights on I believe Archer way before I was married. Living with the "rents" as my brother calls it has at least one great thing no rent or mortage payment. It's amazing how many things you can afford without that in the budget.
