Every nite when I come home from work, usually between 3am / 4am , it seems like the Midlothian cops have 2 or 3 squad cars always at Thorntons on Cicero ave.

When I went inside the officers are just standing around in the beverage area. Not patroling the streets of the village. So if you need one of the towns finest, just take a ride to Thorntons. You will probably find them.
Good for them

I am sure they get a lunch hour. Be glad they are taking it in a public place.

I don't think 2 or 3 squads get their lunch at the same time though "good for them." That doesn't seem right, but perhaps they had responded to a call there and just hadn't left the scene yet.

I like that the police are there. They need to watch 7/11 on Pulaski too. They have had problems with robberies. One worker was shot a couple of years ago.

for your information the officers do get a lunch break and usually get called off them to respond to police service calls. we have a good police department in our village. look around at the other towns with poor police departments. our town isnt too bad. And try driving around in a squad car for 8 to 10 hours. i sure the hell would want to exit the car sometimes... JERK!!!!

Talking about holdups. I remember the shooting of the guy with a the gun at the Midlo Dunkin Donuts
several years back. The front of the building looked like a piece of swiss cheese. The police handled that problem the correct way.

I've always thought the Midlothian Police have done an excellent job in our little town. People may complain about them being at Thortons, but those 24 hour gas stations are a target for the criminal element. I don't have any doubt that their presence has deterred many robberies.

Dear Stupid, Have you ever sat in a car for 8-10 hours dealing with scum? Sometimes you just have to get out and stretch your legs or maybe take a dump. These things are common practice among police officers as well as all human beings. Maybe you should become a police officer and show this town how its done, stupid...

If I'm not mistaken, it does have an Oak Forest mailing address, but it is still within the village of Midlothian.

I won't dispute their need to take a break and stretch their legs. But I'd like to think they could find a better spot to take a dump than the public bathroom at Thornton. Yuck! Our cops have got to be smarter than that.

Respectfully, I think you're missing the point. The presence of the MPD at the gas station does a lot to deter crime. That's why I think they should make their rounds at 7/11 also. If I missed any other 24 hour establishments in town, then those should be included too. Maybe you were joking? If so, my mistake. This is kind of personal for me because I had a sister who was robbed at a gas station years ago. A gun was pulled, but luckily no one was hurt. To be fair, I am concerned if they are completely ignoring 7/11 and just bumming around so to speak, but I doubt the clerk at Thorntons is complaining.

We have several locations that are open 24 hours. Many times you will see several squad cars parked there. At times, squads from neighboring towns are there. If you happen to be in one of these when they are there, they compare notes about crimes commited in each individual town. Plus I wouldn't have a policeman's job ever today, with the crime we have and the stupid laws police are controled by..Another thought. Are there policemen in those establishments? Maybe they are doing what we do over here. They take the trade in squad cars after
they get new one's and they park them in lots of business establishments that are crime prone. This way crooks think there are police on duty.

I remember when we built our very 1st police station. Rosco P Coltrain comes to mind. I believe he was the chief at the time on the recomendation of my dad. Me and my dad along with a couple other fellows built the station with our bare hands. I designed and built the 1st radio MPD used. I then invented and built the 1st walkie talkies in fact MPD was the 1st police department ever to use the radios.

In all honesty I wouldn't go to the 7-11 either. The people that work there are unpleasant and rude. Tall Samoan guy needs an attitude adjustment. They also refuse to stop talking on the phone while ringing people up.
