The incumbent board members were all on board with these actions. We need new blood...
Legal fees have been reported to possibly be $1million and it's going on today. Check the latest mintutes
Bremen High School District 228 is the dominant player in the township and most definitely the Treasurers office as it garners the most money for it. This election has more influence on the people of 228 than the presidential election. Look at the numbers on the election results (total votes)in the previous post, it shows 25,000 in 228 compared to 230 with 970. That's because of the money involved with the treasurers' office which they eliminated.
When you go to the link you need to make a selection in the radio buttons i.e. High School, Bremen.
vote for good government...it's cheaper!

The first link doesn't work but if you go to the second link and click on the Sept.12 minutes they discuss paying all parties. Fees under consideration are $139k for Bertrand,$22K for Szabo and $1200 for Treasurer McDonnell (we already pay him about $150k plus benefits). Remember now this office is for investing money for our kids education. It sure doesn't seem like they are doing a very good job. These are the result of political games supported by and paid by Bremen High School District 228. This is the kind of government the incumbents have given us.
Everybody's complaining about taxes, well this is where their taxes are going.

Front page of the southtown shows the three elected trustees where this million dollar? fiasco started. When they talk about legal expenses in this story they are referring to Bremen High School District 228. We in 228 paid for a great deal of money and our right to elect our own representation forever.
Deborah Stearns, President of BTTS is also President of BHSD228, let's vote her out. The other two incumbents up for election have done nothing to improve 228 and need to be replaced also.
This board (BTTS)
is of no use to the people of 228 and should be abolished. I get tired of hearing about classes canceled at my high school because it's not cost effective. This board is definitely not cost effective in fact it's a major liability. They have recently hired more lawyers. I've heard about boards throughout cook county that put in maybe 10-20 hours a month and then get a pension, is this one of those?
Interesting that the story does not talk about reimbursement of legal fees for Szabo (22k)and also McDonnell. They were also looking for money.(my guess is they got paid) We'll have to wait til they post the minutes.
2013 BTTS budget:http://brementts.org/up loads/Budget2013Final.pdf
The total cost of the office consumes almost all of the money earned. Talk about a waste, except of course for their friends and family jobs program.

This guy sounds like a breath of fresh air.
It would be nice to see three new faces on the board.

I have been a sub in the district for 3 years. Many of the students at Tinley and Hillcrest call me their favorite because I am fair and understanding. I love Bremen and Oak Forest but have had little time to sub at these wonderful schools. I was on Facebook the other day and was voicing my concerns to someone who claimed they work at the Oak Forest schools office. I stated I knew of students that lived out of district. I thought this might be of concern since our taxes pay for their education. From what I have experienced, the administrators could care less as long as they have a body for totals they send to the State. She promptly phoned the Asst. Supt. Goggins and he fired me. I'm aware at Tinley and Hillcrest of this happening and find it appalling that an administrator would not back an employee that has worked for him for 3 years without even asking for my side of the story. I guess the lawyers can figure it out.

Funny, I just read that Deb Stearns is president and she was the person I was having a heated discussion with. People like her are what is wrong with this world, please please please help vote her out.

Another political animal.

Here is another headline in the Southtown about politicians at the school board level.
"Convicted forger refuses to resign Thornton H.S. board president post"
School board elections are April 9th, this is the time to consider all the negative stories we've been seeing lately and vote out the incumbents on Bremen High School District 228. They have proven ineffective and need to be shown the door.

Midlothian Messenger Jan 24,2013, printed the annual statement of affairs fiscal summary for D228. It shows working cash on July 1, 2011 @$24.5 million, on June 30, 2012 the balance is $16.7 million. Did this working cash fund really lose $8 million dollars ?
