I lived in MP from 1952-59. Come on, isn't there ANYBODY out there who would like to reminisce about MP during the fifties? Although I'm very happy about where I live now, MP was a great town to grow up in. I have beautiful memories of that town...isn't there anyone else who would like to correspond with me regarding Midland Park's "good old days"? Anybody remember that the very first girl in the entire country to get married and return to high school in order to graduate was from MP? And to this day, I've NEVER seen better, more talented cheerleaders than those that MP produced. My email address is: everly@earthlink.net. PLEASE -- somebody -- walk down memory lane with me! I lived on Zimmer Avenue. Spent many hot summer days swimming at Crestwood Lake in Allendale -- in the winter, ice skated at Hoffman's Pond -- saw many movies at the Warner Theater in Ridgewood -- went to Paramus Roller Rink. Any of this ring a bell with anybody out there? Come on, somebody, make an old lady happy and write me!

I lived in Midland Park from 1950 until 1971....spent all my school years there, graduated from MPHS in 1964. And, I know all the places you wrote about, although I never did get to Crestwood. We went to Spring Lake in Wyckoff. Spent many happy hours at Hoffman's pond but always in the summer.

I'm sorry I didn't see your post until just now; I haven't been checking. I would have graduated MPHS in '63, but my family moved away in '59. Only time we as kids hung out at Hoffman's Pond was during the wintertime, ice skating. Had a fantastic time. Wonder if you knew of the following families from MP: Kay, Skinner, Fiorilla, Steele; or Villarosa from Waldwick. I'll check back soon, I promise! And thanks for responding to my post :)

Hi Sheralyn,

I lived 1-block away on Millington drive from 1950-1960. Zimmer Ave was Ave at one end and as I recall the sign said Zimmer place at the other. Crestwood Lake, Hoffman's Pond, Warner Bros Theater, Paramus Roller Rink wer hot spots for me too. Also Spring Lake, and Ice skating at the Duck Pond in Ridgewood and lots of other stuff. I am 62, but maybe you know my younger sister Marion. I attended MP Grammar School and Junior High School the first year it was open (at Blom's Dairy), then switched to Bergen Catholic for High School.

Now, I live near Brisbane Australia...a good ways from MP.

Cheers

Hi Richard,

Sorry I haven't checked this forum in so long -- I'll bookmark it so I won't neglect it again and will check back with you. I also am 62, so I wouldn't doubt we know each other -- I had lots of playmates from Millington Drive! I may know your sister Marion, as I played with a girl by that name and she was from Millington. Will check back with you very soon, I promise! Good luck to you.

Those "good Dutch folks" who were so ultra-religious were HORRIBLE when the first black kid enrolled in the M.P. school. I know, I was there. That's not my idea of "good folks" no matter what their nationality. They were about as religious as Jimmy Swaggart.

I lived in Midland park from 1933 till 1954. My family owned a grocery meat market in town on Godwin Ave, Went to Pompton Lakes High cause Mp didn't have a high school. Had to walk to and from the train station to ride to high school.
Loved MP and still have family and friends there
and go back to visit every other year.
Did the Paramus skating rink and Crestwood Lake too. Ice skating at the mill pond in winter.
