Saw in BD it's time to get petitions signed to run for SB. Any guesses on who will run. Think the one in the postion now will run again? I think so and I don't think any one will run against her.

Sam, you're right about PP, but her term is not up, it's CL the appointed position that's up. I heard she is already campaigning, heard they had a big party like they had a few years back to kick things off, also heard she sent personal letters to teachers. Her hubby is one of the original gang members that went after the former school board members to get them all off. Ain't small town politics a bunch of crap?

that's not right, our school is in good financial position. State doesn't care if board is liked or not, really don't even care what they do as long as it's not immoral or illegal. Keep those tax dollars coming and we'll be fine.

Maybe not illegal or immoral but most definitely
unethical. This present board can take the top prize of all time for being the most unconventional, unethical and having personal agendas of any board we've ever had in Booneville.

Do you think all of the law suits are over from what happened last year? Or will the present board have to deal with more issues?

What could possibly still be coming, everybody has moved on from that entire mess, except for a few people on this site who are still holding grudges from further back.

I would be interested in who plans to run this year. I heard that one of the former board members who termed out has been approached by several to run again, is giving strong consideration, has picked up a petition and actually gathered some signatures. Let the race begin !!!!

all the people some of the time;but you can't fool
all the people all the time."
It was not long ago the "Perfect Storm"began to brew in Booneville.
There were three major groups bound together in a common cause.
One group was made up of a local church group led by the sibling of a former administrator. They wanted reribution.
Another group was composed primarily of elemen-
tary teachers. They felt spurned by other areas and
levels of the school. Not enough attention.
The third group was a mixture of former board
members and business people.In short,they hadn't
recieved something they wanted for themselves,
their friends, or their children.
Anger and jealousy was the glue that held them all together. The community was whipped into a
"Lynch Mob" mentality.Blood was demanded! They got it! Administrators, board members, and staff were
jetisoned. Some we needed to lose, others we couldn't afford to lose.
At one time policy was carried out,no matter who you were. Each Summer a committee of faculty, students, parents, and board members discussed any
need for policy change.Only after debate and a vote, could any possible change be preseneted to the board for consideration.
Now,policy can be changed on a whim to fit what-
ever is politically popular at the moment.
The board need not worry. No one would dare file
against them.Who would want to be destroyed like the others?
It will be interesting to watch these groups feed on each other. After all, there is no one else left.Their agendas will eventually will collide.
Truth and Honesty rode out of Booneville on the
same horse a few years ago.
Everyone who so eagerly carried or listened to each little bit of gossip, have blood on their hands.Lives were destroyed and careers ruined.
You may smile and rationalize your innocence all
you please. In your heart of hearts you know who you are.
Only when you can dismiss the fear of public
opinion and insecurity of wanting to be popular can you develop the maturity and courage to lead.
Leadership is not appeasment. There is a special place in H--- for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.

1. Lack of experience for the board
2. Lack of wisdom
3. Lack of wanting to do what is best for the whole district.

Read an article about Lavaca school system and how well they are doing. Their board has people on there who have a lot of wisdom but have been allowed to stay on the board long enough to gain experience as well. Well one thing that may come out of this is that if no one else ever runs we'll get to keep all the same board for several years. Think on that one.

Excellent point!
However, there was a time when other schools wan-
ted to emulate us.Have we now reached the point we want to be like another school even smaller
than us? Nevertheless, good theory is good theory
regardless of size.
Would we want this particular board to stay that long? They could never fulfill your points
2 and 3,no matter their tenure.
It's all mute anyway.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aquarius

This is another day when financial matters cause trouble, as Mars reverses in your seventh house. What started off as a minor niggle with a partner or an opponent yesterday could now escalate into a full-blown row, but at least this will give you the chance to get certain things out into the open. Legal issues from the past may become ugly. If you're pointing the finger of blame at someone, don't get so heated that you accuse them of everything under the sun.
