Bankruptcy makes complete sense. The ones opposing it will be city officials and union leaders. They could care less about the taxpayers best interests.

It would be a great for Utica and NEW YORK STATE to go bankruptcy.
first all union contract are voided, next all pension are froze for one year, maybe longer, pay rates are adjusted to a lower rate, heath care cost also adjusted, OH yea, for anyone who is getting part of your husbands or wife state or city retirement money you will no long get any part of that.

The citizens of Utica need to rise up and demand bankruptcy! Start by getting council members on board. Why wait? Start the revitalization process now and tackle the inevitable head on like Detroit. This will spur more interest from people who could offer services to residents, provide choice and free markets prevail!

They will extinguish themselves or be forced to come together to rise and be part of the solution much like Detroit

I think the biggest resistance is going to come from those who feed from the public trough. Bankruptcy is Utica's only hope. Imagine just how great this entire area could be by now had such restructuring been implemented just 10 years ago. Instead, the financial troubles continue to get kicked on down the road.

We need a brave new leader who will take such bold and decisive action.

Village of Prospect has jumped on board. Are Utica's leaders going to put their pride aside and stop holding residents hostage.

The best thing about Utica filing bankruptcy is the voiding of the public safety contracts. There broke!!
