The next time any of you vets who feel left out, hear that Dave Roever (pronounced Reever) is coming to town, go see him. He is the Viet Nam vet who was burned more than half his body from a grenade. He is still having corrective surgeries all these years later. He is an evangelist who made something good out of what happened to him.

Usually at the end of his talks, he has every single veteran of every war that is there that night stand up and they all get a round of applause. It's just amazing!

yeah hope my kids go into the military for free handouts too! how about us older veterans who got and get nothing!
WOW, what a mean comment to make about your fellow military personnel! Since you're a vet, you should know that the military doesn't get FREE handouts. My son became a Marine at 17 yrs old - and started boot camp one month after he graduated from high school. After 12 years, he's now a Gunny Sgt and I don't recall him getting any free handouts. They train hard and certainly don't have a normal 40 hr a week job. He's been deployed more times than I can count and has served with a couple of the MEU's (Marine Expeditionary Unit). He's now a company Gunny so he's in charge of almost 1,000 young Marines. He and his fellow military personnel lay their lives on the line every single day. They do it because they want to, they're not drafted anymore. They choose to enlist and let the government be their boss. If the military were to get what our congressman and senators get, then I'd agree that they get FREE handouts. I do agree that we need to do something for the older vets, they've earned it. But for you to more or less slam this couple is nothing more than sour grapes. If you go through life always wondering why this person or that person got something and you didn't, you'll be more of a bitter person than you are now.

I remember when he came to my high school back in the 80's. He's such a beautiful man; he could coax joy out of a stone.

I feel the same. I signed my son's DEP papers the day after he finshed his Junior year. He graduated from High School on Monday, we had his open house on Friday & dropped him at MEPS on Sunday morning. Now, three deployments later, he's earned every penny he has made (which isn't as much as people may think and not nearly enough for all they go thru!) No handouts! He pays for his own boots! I bought his protective head gear on his first deployment and it saved his life when the convoy he was driving in hit an IED.

I am certain this Marine not only deserves this home, but he also deserves the RESPECT of anyone who has anything to say! If you can't come up with that, go visit a Recruter & sign up.
