How does banning same-sex couples from marrying in any way "protect the constitution"?
Because it's not in it. No sane person back then would have proposed it. You wish to open Pandora's box,(not a pun). You can do what you want, as long as it is under the same laws of decency that hetro's adhear to. You want money, not marriage. If you want to marry, move to a state where it is legal, that is if it's all you really want.

Oh yeah, we're soooo impressed.

Neither is the French govt, which is why they're moving ahead to pass marriage equality.

And yet you feel compelled to make derogatory comments on the subject....

I just love how all you bigots start out by claiming how much you don't care about a subject as you're commenting on a subject you supposedly don't care about.

The children were holding up signs that said; I Came From A Papa and Mama.....That pretty well says it all. Even the children get the unpreverted facts of life.

Because they have a different point of view does not make them bigots. To call them such give the impression you care little about free speech, but hey, your a liberal and free speech is only if we agree with you and your hey boy in the White House.

And allowing same-sex couples to marry in now way prevents heteros from getting married and having kids.

When their different view point is based on bigotry, then yes, that makes them bigots.

Where did I say they don't have the right to speak their minds?

Do I not have the same right to speak my mind?

Only bigots like yourself seem to have difficulty understanding the difference between animals and humans, so it's really only an issue for you.

But harming animals is illegal, and will remain so.

How do you know what other people want? Have you ever MET a gay married couple? Their kids?

Why pretend to know all about the personal lives, dreams, family life and goals of a million families you will never even meet?

If your desire is to create laws that directly harms others, for NO reason other than the fact that you don't understand or like them, then, YES, you are a bigot.

It's not simply a "difference of opinion", it's HARM!

If I was able to mobilize enough people who did not like you, to ban you from EVER marrying anyone you could be attracted to or love, would you feel that I had harmed you, and for no logical reason? If I could do the same to your kids, what would you do? How would you feel?

A bigot is without empathy - a basic human trait.

Does that describe you?

What laws might they be?

If there was a logical reason, would that be acceptable? Why isn't acceptable for some relationships not to receive state recognition, or recognition in a different format? Society can and does treat different situations and things differently, that doesn't automatically mean bigotry is involved.

Sure. Getting married is all about religion. It involves a man and a women.
Gays should have a right to bond, but not marry.

Unless....the couple is an opposite sex gay couple, one man and one woman.....then it would work. Simple biology.

Women means more than one woman dear and while there are Mormons and others who practice that, they don't do so legally. You do realize that there are religions that have been blessing same sex marriages for decades, even before they were legal anywhere, don't you? It really doesn't matter what a religion's view on any given marriage is anyways, a religious blessing has NEVER been a requirement of a legal marriage in this country. Hell, it wasn't until the 20th century that a marriage required a legal blessing in the form of a marriage license to be legal. If your religious choice doesn't want to bless same sex marriages, there is nothing in either the law or the Constitution which would require them to.

We and our relationships will be treated equally under the law as married, whether you like the idea or not.

It is in there.

Equal protections clause and no "sane person" back then would have imagined that one day women would have the same legal rights and protections as men.

Natural male superiority was so much a part of the founding father's world view that the gender biased language of the constitution required a whole new amendment to secure the civil rights of women.

Original intent ain't all it's cracked up to be unless you're a wealthy, white, Christian man.

While I'm at it, my husband and I had to travel hundreds of miles to a state the recognizes same-sex marriage in order to be legally married.

We live in Indiana. There is no monetary benefit to our union, so as far as I can tell you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
