I have to admit, I am guilty of poluting the waters, are you?
I plan on putting fertilizer on my lawn this weekend. However, I know that this is probably one of the biggest problems with the waters in the bays, excessive nitrogen from run off.
I have seen Barneget Bay changing dramatically in the last few years with the influx of jellyfish. They start in April now and you can't swim in the bay.
Stuff grows on pilings that wasn't there a few years ago.
I also recently watched a documentary about our water supply that said that if your lawn does not stay green without watering, plant something else.
I have a sprinkler system to keep my fertized Kentucky Bluegrass looking plush.
What am I supposed to do? Plant periwinkle on my front lawn?

I don't fertilize....I have a huge property and it is mixed grass seed , I add seed every couple of years and I am lucky enough that it stays green and soft.....It is not as beautiful as your bluegrass, I am sure but I am happy with it....I don't really swim in the ocean anymore , I wade to my waist and I sit at the waters edge.but I do enjoy the sand and surf....I usually attend the beach cleanups but I cannot make this one as we will be away that weekend but I hope it has a good turnout
