Hmmmm.....doesn't look like it is going so good for the upstanding officer. That is what happens when you break the law; inwhich he should know first and foremost.

How can you say don't bother to reply unless you are educated when you are making comments like this?? First of all just because you live in Middletown does not mean you are imbred. I lived there most of my childhood and I AM VERY WELL EDUCATED. But I just wondered how you can say you only want educated people to reply to you if you are not sounding very educated yourself. If you were educated you would know that just because you are from a small town does not mean you are imbred. What he did was wrong and that's that. What if that was your child he was exploiting?? Your opinions would be completely different I'm sure. Now if you want to respond to me, please feel free. But come with some better supporting information than just calling people from middletown imbreeds! Thanks!!!

I can say that, because for one thing, if you knew the facts of this case, then you would see my point of view. Obviously, you have not been here in a while, becasue the people in this town, and I do not refer to ALL small towns, DO act as if they are inbred, they have no idea where their kids are at, nor do they care to find out. The "child" that Eric supposedly exploited has a long history of this behavior, and is currently pregnant, or so I hear from someone that knows her. She is 16, and this is not her first pregnancy, again, so I hear. As for education, at least with regard to this matter, I feel like I am far more "educated" than most, including YOU. These girls were completely unsupervised, and no one had any idea where they were at or what they were doing. In my opinion Eric is NOT a sex offender, he simply took advantage of what was freely offered. Granted, he should have known better, but it is what it is. You cannot change the past, but I get really sick of people who live hundreds, even thousands of miles away stating an opinion, when they have no clue. I feel like if you do not know the case, and you can't know what the details are unless you are involved, and yes, I am involved, but I won't say how, then stay out of it. Yes, what he did was stupid, and wrong. But what about these girls? They are running around town, still doing their thing, while Eric sits in prison for 15 years becuase of 2 pictures. One of them even admitted to having done this before! As for the rest of the town, everyday, I see, and my neighbors see, girls walking up and down the road wearing clothes a hooker would be embarrassed to wear in public. Yet THEY are the innocent ones? I don't think so. And don't give me that crap about "just because she is dressed provacativly she didn't ask for it" crap. Why else dress like that? Can't be because it's comfortable. If the girls under 16 in this town were forced to tell the truth about their sex lives, a lot of parents would be absolutely shocked. As for if this was MY child, I would know long before it came to this, because I would know where my kid was at. If they were not where they said they'd be, I'd still know, because they would be at home, grounded until further notice. It's called "good parenting"--- something a lot of the parents in Middletown should aquaint themselves with. BTW, the post that you responded to is old. I suggest that you read further in the posts to get up- to- date information.

The issue hear is the law. An officer should be held to the HIGHEST standard. "Let he who has no sin cast the first stone." If you can't handle following the law and walking an incredibly straight line and never doing anything that is even questionable, then you have no business being an officer. I am not sure about this but I seem to remember some off duty officer moonlighting at a highschool getting caught selling drugs. Many officers have no regard for the law and that is nothing more than disgusting and hypocritical. Police that accept free coffee are bad enough, and I hope all we heard in the paper is wrong. Maybe he will be exonorated, but I doubt it. If no one but the officer in question ever saw the alleged material he would never have been arrested. Some one saw it and if it even appears to be a girl under 16 it is a serious crime as an officer, swat team member, and roll model he should have known the laws, and be prepaired to pay the price. You say oh his poor family? Who did this to his family that just makes him worse.

When did this go from an informative public forum to a crude vicious catfight?

I truly couldn't agree more. He is my uncle and I would definitely trust him with my children if I had any I mean it's just crazy what people say about someone who they truly do not know. Thank you for sticking up for him!

I am a part of erics family and we suffered along with friends of his and other co workers of his have suffered. So for you people to downgrade my uncle is ridiculous. Know the person and the whole case / situation before you judge them. Next time think about what you people say before you say it considering his family or friends could be reading these comments. Thank you to whoever the person was for sticking up for him I truly appreciate it very much whoever you are
