I'm thankful for everything I have; the roof over my head, a family who loves me, healthy children, food on my table, clothes on my back, and a God who has never turned His back on me even when I've turned my back on Him. I am truly blessed more than I realize sometimes. Thank you for starting this thread remind me of what's really important. God bless everyone who reads this :)

I hope you're not referring to the god of the Bible, that smiting, drowning, cursing, plaguing, torturing, genocidal, cosmic thug. If that makes you happy, you should reexamine your principles.

Feel free to have your own beliefs then. Nobody cares and nobody can force a fable on you or make you believe anything you don't want to believe, so you exhibit the same tolerance and stop trying to tell others how to believe. In as much as you demand freedom FROM religion, they deserve freedom OF religion without your sniveling protest.
Intolerance reflects fear. Cowards are afraid to let others believe differently. If you were a real atheist, you wouldn't give a shit what anybody believes as long as they leave you alone.

"Feel free to have your own beliefs then." I don't have "beliefs." I make conclusions based on reason and evidence.

"nobody can force a fable on you or make you believe anything you don't want to believe" But theists try even today, as they always have. Fortunately, in this country, at this time, they don't have the power of, say, the Dark Ages.

"so you exhibit the same tolerance and stop trying to tell others how to believe." I'm not telling you what to believe. I'm calling out bullshit. Adults should abandon imaginary friends.

"In as much as you demand freedom FROM religion, they deserve freedom OF religion without your sniveling protest." No silly, this is a PUBIC formum. You are not immune from criticism. Don't spew nonsense and expect everyone to remain silent and nod their heads.

"If you were a real atheist, you wouldn't give a shit what anybody believes as long as they leave you alone" If you want to be left alone, go to a private forum...where it's nice and safe, where no one will challenge you.

Wrong.

You still choose to place your confidence in a particular concept; thus accepting what you deem factuality.
Arguing semantics has no merit, by the way.
The very fact that you call another person's OPINION "bullshit" only proves that you "believe" it to be bullshit. It does not prove it to be "bullshit." Opinions can't prove or disprove other opinions, unfortunately for you and truth doesn't require belief in order to be established as truth.
Non-believer wrote:

Irrelevant to your presence on this thread.

These people did not seek you out attempting to force you to become a believer, did they? No.
You came here with an agenda fueled by a grudge against "theists" and civilizations from the "Dark Ages."
(That made me snicker.)
Do you also barge into churches and demand people stop dragging you to church?
Non-believer wrote:

Wrong and contradictory.

I know you're not telling ME what to believe (as if your opinion would matter to an Atheist...lol).
You absolutely did tell these people that they SHOULD "reexamine" their principles and stated that adults SHOULD abandon imaginary friends. Now, I want to know... Says whom, Hondo?
Do you establish the laws of morality for mankind and govern with a sovereign fist?

Again, a confident Atheist doesn't attempt to change another's belief system as long as that individual is comfortable in his/her own logic and said logic does not infringe upon the Atheist's freedoms or rights. I don't care if these people believe in Santa. Fictional characters don't intimidate me.
Apparently, they do disturb you.

I'm guessing you haven't learned from authentic Atheists, so take notes, kid.
"My manner of thinking, so you say, cannot be approved. Do you suppose I care? A poor fool indeed is he who adopts a manner of thinking for others!" -Marquis De Sade
Only a fool would change his beliefs on command.

You also ridiculed their belief by calling it "bullshit." That is merely an OPINION grounded in intolerance. A true intellectual wouldn't feel the need to resort to profane attacks. Undereducated people would; however, so I suppose you have an excuse.

Wrong again, Sally.

I suppose you meant to spell "forum" and while it is; indeed, public, freedom of speech only guarantees you the right to express your opinion. It does not give you the right to target a religious group with Anti-Theistic hate speech or profane verbal abuse telling them what they SHOULD do.
That is indicative of cowards.
Secondly, I didn't spew any nonsense. I simply pointed out your intolerance and hypocrisy.

"Arguing semantics has no merit, by the way" You don't believe that the meaning of words is important? Somehow, that doesn't surprise me.

"The very fact that you call another person's OPINION "bullshit" only proves that you "believe" it to be bullshit." You seem to be under the misapprehension that all opinons are correct, which is absurd.

"Opinions can't prove or disprove other opinions" The main way that rational people weed out correct "opinions" from bullshit is examing the EVIDENCE.

"unfortunately for you and truth doesn't require belief in order to be established as truth." To determine a claim as true, it must be supported by evidence. In the case of your imaginary friend, your evidence is lacking, so there is no reason to believe you.

"Do you also barge into churches and demand people stop dragging you to church?" I'm not criticizing comments that were made in church. You're not paying attention.

"I know you're not telling ME what to believe (as if your opinion would matter to an Atheist...lol)." My opinions matter to a lot of atheists. I know because I have conversed with many of them.

"Again, a confident Atheist doesn't attempt to change another's belief system as long as that individual is comfortable in his/her own logic and said logic does not infringe upon the Atheist's freedoms or rights." Religious nutbags adversely affect me in numerous ways, hence one reason why I challenge religious claims when I see them. For example, fanatics regularly knock on my door in the morning, rudely waking me up with charlatan schemes. Many of you also attempt to impose you religion on me through legislation. The offenses go on and on.

You drew an illogical conclusion. The fact that you misunderstood "arguing semantics" doesn't surprise me.
I'll try to "dummy it down" for you from now on.

"Arguing semantics" is simply a charge that you are avoiding the point at hand by wanting to argue your CONNOTATION of a word. You said you don't have "beliefs." Everybody has beliefs, but not everybody believes in a god. You believe religion is "bullshit," you said. There you go. That's your belief.
law wrote:

No, I don't think all "opinons" are correct.
Try really hard this time.... My statement was the exact opposite of your claim.
Opinions cannot prove or disprove other opinions. That obviously means opinions lack the merit for establishing truth because they are not necessarily based on fact or actual knowledge. Only facts can prove or disprove.

I'll say it again: Fact doesn't require belief in order to be established as fact.
For example, the moon doesn't exist simply because I believe in it. It's there whether I choose to believe in it or not. It's presence establishes that and it needs no validation from me or anybody else.
law wrote:

Examing? How do you Topix scholars go about this "examing" process? LOL
law wrote:

Of course it does, Einstein! Now you finally get what I meant in my statement that fact does not require belief in order to establish it as fact. But, the point remains that your opinions are only as valuable as every other dolt's opinion and you have no legitimate right to force your opinion on another individual by saying they "should" do something simply because you've deemed it as "bullshit."
law wrote:

You seem to be under the delusion that I have a god. Where did I say that?
This is not about anybody's belief in a deity. It's about your intolerance and hypocrisy, and now... your blatant avoidance of it. The key to curing your hypocrisy is found in recognizing it.

You are not criticizing ME. You are criticizing the religious people who began the thread. You are criticizing religion. You are criticizing THEIR belief in a Deity. You exemplify the intolerance and bigotry you claim to abhor in judgmental Christians who supposedly "force" their opinions on you.

I'm simply pointing out to you that you are a hypocrite. If that hurts your feelings, so be it.
That's not my problem.
You demand that no one force religion down your throat, yet you came to their thread to tell them what you think they SHOULD do. LOL Think about that.

I call that "ironic moronic." It's a little term I coined after observing you Topix polymaths in action... when you don't realize you're doing the very thing you oppose.

I'm still waiting on the prophesied "challenge."
