I don't understand what you people have against Steve Martin. My children had him as a principal and absolutely loved him, along with many other children I know. Majority of children that are in Middlesboro School System love him for that matter and think he was an outstanding principal. So, why such a personal vendetta against him?

hey Candy you don't Kelly Shoffner if you did you would know that she is not bragging about anything. All she wants to do is represent the children and the school system. You on the other hand have no character.

The children don't know him? They know how he treats them. While children aren't involved with many school decisions, they do know if someone is interested in them and trying to help them.

I agree with the other person who posted. This all sounds a whole lot like a personal vendetta. Which I guess if you have something personal against him that's your business, but it is not a very convincing argument for keeping the school system on what many of us believe is the wrong track.

one last thing. It is Mr.Martins responsibility to care for. The children.it makes me ask the question how well do you really know a person? The wife believes her husband wouldn't cheat on her. The husband believes that is wife is faithful. You believe that your family member would never steal or use drugs. You believe you know your best friend and they are sleeping with your best friend. You go to work and smile and laugh then when you go home you are abused. No one knows because you put on a good show. afraid that your wife will love someone else, afraid that she will leave you so you control her. How well do you really know a person? Your best friend, your sister, child, husband may be suicidal and you don't have a clue because they hide it very well. Do you really know a person?

What does this have to do with anything, particularly this election? I'm not following your point here.

I believe they do. When you work with kids you find that they are pretty perceptive about things like that. They can tell you the teachers or administrators who really make an effort to connect with them, and those who are just going through the motions. Most of the time if you ask other adults in the building they can confirm who the effective teachers/admins are.

Not sure that means that they need to know every facet of their private life to be able to have a genuine relationship in the school setting.

Today is election day. Its a time when we all will be looking for something to change, be it the presidential election or our local elections. I would like to take this time to ask for prayer for all candidates. It takes guts to put your name out there to serve a community or a country. There are always people ready to tear you down for beliefs and convictions. I feel that Charlotte Webb, JJ Jones and Jeff Green are good candidates for school board. I know 2 of them personally, and have no doubt at all that they are running "For OUR CHILDREN", for the future of our children, and for the improvement of the Middlesboro School System. I hope that people will rally and support them for this reason. God Bless you Charlotte and Jeff and JJ. Good Luck!!

I agree. I think that all the candidates are well-meaning people, I just personally think that we need to make a change.

Ms Webb will do a great job. She loves this community and wants the best for the kids in it. She was that way as a teacher and she will be that way now.

Do you mind if I ask you specifically why you would transfer your children over a board election?(I'm not implying that you shouldn't, just asking if the membership of the board really has a bearing on your decisions in school choice? And if the board is a factor in your decision, are you more pleased with the Bell Board?)

No criticism. Just asking.
