I read this in another post and loved it. Thought I'd copy share this in case it's over looked.

"I don't but that "I still need them for the pain" shit! I had back surgery several years ago. The doctor gave me lorcet/tab (whichever) and I took them for a a couple of weeks for the pain, that's it. And when I ran out, I took Advil. I didn't get hooked because I knew it was time to stop taking them, so I don't buy into that shit. But of course I didn't shove them up my nose either. The thing is, if your in pain, take an Advil! Lets just stop making excuses and just face it. This town is full of lazy ass people who don't want to do anything but sit on their asses and get buzzed. Their parents didn't care enough to raise them right and discipline them and the schools couldn't, and now they are adults who cannot manage themselves. I mean c'mon, those of you on drugs, don't you ever just look at yourselves in the mirror and wonder how you let yourself come to this? Don't you wonder where your teeth went or why you face is so drawn up? Don't you wonder why people look at you and think you're trash? For God's sake, most of you are carrying someone else's piss around with you. Don't you ever want something better out of life? And those of you who are on drugs that have kids, they see you do this shit, they are going to be just like you. Don't you care about that? But then again, someone else is probably raising them for you."

I will disagree witht the comment you made about parents not caring enough to raise them right? For one, look around. The majority of these "users" are from middle to high class homes. Drug addiction can involve ANYONE. So blaming this on the parents is too, an easy way out! The blame is on nobody but the "druggie".

you said it right, people need to stop blaming eveyone else for their problems. its the doctors fault for giving the pills, its the scholls fault for lacking discipline, its the parents fault for being too strict, not strict enough, WHATEVER!!!! people need to take responsibility for themselves. its YOUR fault if you are a dope feind, if the dr gives you medication, take ie the way its perscribed!!! ive never been to a dr who told me to snort my meds up my nose. jeez, quit blaming society and put the blame where it belongs, on you.

i agree that its on the druggy. but, just because people are from "high class" homes, that don't mean they are raising their kids right. there are good & bad parents in every walk of life. just like there are druggies from every walk of life.

You can't always blame it on the parents. I know growing up my parents always talked about not using drugs but of course in high school I smoked pot. Not because my parents were bad parents but because I chose to. As a parent now Im gonna lecture my son about drugs and I hope that he makes the right choice. I think it all boils down to is choices. It doesnt matter if your high class, middles class, or low class; you have got to have parents that care and hope kids just make the right choice.

I am sorry,I am by no means being a smart a$$ but,u folks do not have a clue!? Addiction is by no means a choice. Who would choose to live in misery? The pain that comes along with it is unbearable. Without an intervention from a higher power, the addict/alcoholic has no mental defense against that first drink or drug.

I agree with what you say except the part where it seems like you're hinting that middle and high class people are the only ones who try to raise their kids right. Sorry if I read you wrong. I do agree it's not the parents' fault. I tried to raise my boys right, but neither one of them listened and now one's in prison 'cause he got on drugs, another's on his way to prison for selling drugs and the other's in a juvenile facility. I have NEVER taken drugs in my life and it goes against everything I believe in. I have pain, I take an Advil. Works just fine.

That's bulls**t! People absolutely knew the effects of drugs BEFORE they ever used. EVERYONE does. Yet they are all stupid enough to start it.

Have u ever had 1 sip of alchol,1 puff of anything? If u haven't then good for u.Most of us addicts start when we are teens, some even younger. It is an overwhelming need of more that we cannot say no.

its an excuse, if you want your life to be drug free, only YOU can change it. there are so many programs, rehabs, meetings that you could attend if you were serious about getting your life together, put the blame where it belongs, on you. Excuses,Excuses,Excuses.

no one ever intends to become addicted to drugs it happens before you ever realize you have a problem. most people start in school going to parties drinking, smoking a lil pot, trying a pill so on and before you know it you have a problem and over years it progresses. addiction is a disease like cancer without the right help u will die. people with cancer have to take meds and deal with this the rest of there lives well as addicts its the same way but there meds are NA meetings, counciling and so on something they have to deal with the rest of there lives. i'm a recovering drug addict and i would lay down and died for my son but i couldn't stop using for him i had to do it for myself. when your a addict it doesn't mean you dont love your kids. so before you decide to put someone down ask yourself, do i really understand what there going through?

No buzz here

United States

#17 Apr 5, 2009
I personally believe that doing drugs starts out as something people CHOOSE to do because lack of a better word they think it's cool. Then the next step is they CHOOSE to keep hanging around friends that do it, so they KEEP doing it. Then the worse thing that can happen is if they CHOOSE a spouse who likes to drink, smoke,do pills. It just gets all out of control then before they know it they are addicted. The difference between the social drinkers, pot smokers & occasional Lorecet to get a buzz is some people crave that buzz feeling more than others. I could have turned into a full fledged addict, but I was always worried about what other people thought that I had to come in contact with in everyday life. The red wattery eyes, slurred speech, forgetfullness, now I do not do anything and don't even like to be around anybody that does.My husband always liked to party. but now he MIGHT drink a 12 pack of beer every 6 months. He knows I won't tolerate it and we now get our buzz watching our kids grow up not missing a moment of it from being messed up.
