We have a lot of Amish here in Delaware. Some may be migrating from here. They are selling and moving to parts of KY & Ohio. This area has too much traffic for them. It's sad to see them leave Delaware because they have a lot of history here.

They are from Virgina and Tenn. There are some that live in Knox Co. also. They are buying up property every where, in all states.

There is some that live just outside of Pineville. These people bother no one and stay to themselves. No problem here.

That sounds very cool, wheres about in Pineville do you usually see them? The ones I`ve seen so far was in Middlesboro usually at walmart or big lots but they were driving,I remember one group got in a van because it was parked beside me and other group I can`t remember exactly what it was but I know it was a car,I think it`s cool having amish around,I don`t of course live way they do but their way harms no one so yeah I like seeing different people around and it also helps teach kids about other folks because I had my daughter with me once and she thought they were the coolest and I told her what I knew and we read somethings online so it helped her to learn

Driving automobiles!?? That's very unusual! That's against their religious teachings. Are you sure they are not Menonnites!?

To JohnnyBoyDE,I`m not sure what exactly they are I assumed amish plus I was behind the ones that drove the van checking out and the cashier was trying to talk to them and she`d commented about them being Amish and they didn`t correct her so I`m not sure if they were just being polite and not correcting her or van driving Amish.I can`t remember the color of either van or car.To Social services,I agree this was what I was hoping for just nice polite comments!

I recently did a project and compared the two " Amish and Mennonites" for a college class and the Amish do not believe in several things like Internet, automobiles, public jobs etc etc and Mennonites have several similar religious beliefs but they do drive cars and have jobs. Also another interesting belief is when the Amish men become married they no longer shave there face and grow facial hair. Also Amish clothing is to be black or dark blue it must be ad plain as possible as for the Mennonites there guidelines aren't as strict Mennonites dress code is similar to pentecostal belief. Also another tid bit of info Amish makes the best deer jerky ever!!when I kill a deer I take it to them and they do it for me
