Walmart strike on Black Friday, union organization is in the works. We are putting an end to low wages, no benefits, and illegal work practices! It's about time!

There are other ways to get rid of "low wages, no benefits, and illegal work practices!"

1. Stay in school and study to make good grades.
2. Go to college or trade school.
3. Leave the mountains.

Instead, you folks want someone to give you what you don't earn based on your education level and lack of skills.

The unions are based on socialism, plain and simple. Money is taken from the profit of those who own the business and "shared" with those who work for the business for no other reason than "we want more money even though we are not worth it."

It may be too late for you to do much more than cry for what you don't have, but the least you can do is point your children in another direction where they won't be working at Walmart or McDonald's their whole life.

I'm with you! Where can I get more information about the strike? I don't work for Wal-Mart, but I'll show my support if I can.
Pay no mind to the anti-worker sentiments expressed in this thread. Scabs like these make me ashamed to call this state home. Our region was built by unions. This whole country was built by unions. They say that unionized workers take money from the bosses. I say the bosses take money from the workers.
It's the workers who produce the wealth. We ought to control the wealth.

Well don't show up and when you are replaced and sitting at the unemployment office you will have no one but yourselves to blame. Oh that's right, darn I forgot, you can't collect benefits if you're FIRED! Right now in this economy you're blessed to have a job. I know the first of the month is bad, all the way till the 15th. Go ahead. Walk right on out and then you will really be hurting. No job = no food, no place to live, and no way to fill up your car. Good luck.

If you do not work fora company where a Union isn't necessary then great. However, in spite of the bad parts of a Union I wouldn't or sorry Couldn't work where I do without one. While they protect some people who don't deserve it the worker that does deserve it earns representation. Everyone knows the only workers that get in trouble are the one's that actually work not the boss man's suck. TEAMSTERS LOCAL 1854!

Not everyone who works there is some low life with no education. I for one, worked there for 2 years will going to college. So are alot of other people. Some people have no choice but to work there even after college. And Walmart treats their employees bad in every aspect; this is just the topping on the cake. I respect what the employees want to do. If it wasn't under these circumstances then I would be against it because anyone in retail should know they will work on black Friday. But to do it at 8pm when some people are just then finishing dinner with their families is absurd.

Fire every last one of them for job abandonment!

The union thugs at hostess stood for their principles, and 18000 people lost their jobs. Even the horrible teamsters union went in and looked at hostesses financial state and said the companies offers are reasonable if they want to stay open, but the bakers and other unions said no deal.

So 18000 former fully employed with benefits citizens can now stand by their union principles in the Salvation Army line this Christmas---but hey the unions got your back!!!

The Waltons and the Walmart Corporation are not going to be hurting by treating their employees right, by giving them a living wage and medical benefits. I appaud the workers for standing up for themselves and their future. How dare any of you look down your noses at anyone trying to better their lives and demand to be treated fairly. They aren't looking for a hand out. God bless you all. I for one am boycotting Walmart the entire holiday season.

For all those who go to walmart to save money because they have lower prices but yet want their employees making professional and skilled wages for unskilled jobs if you give them $15 an hour for a job that pays $8.50 an hour you won't be shopping at walmart for low prices in the future.

They are asking for wages of a skilled or professionally trained employee and the fact of the matter is most walmart jobs, not all, are unskilled jobs that require very little training.

The fact that the owners of walmart have made good money is irrelevant. They are not in business to provide jobs, they are in business to MAKE MONEY. I know that in the new communist USA that is a dirty word, but its the reason any one opens a business to make a profit.

If they strike fire every last one of them.

LOL.... Spoken like a true Faux News nit wit disciple.... Who do you think is making them rich? Certainly not the sweat of their own brows. They did not start Walmart nor have they "earned" a dime of that money. It was given to them.. Sam Walton would be ashamed of how his company treats its employees... And your premise that giving the employees a fair wage and benefits will somehow put the company under is stupid.$15 an hour is not a lot of money.. This not 1985..

They will never see $15 an hour back in here. You might get $10 or $11 but not $15. Trust me they don't earn what they do now. Cashiers are rude, the veggies can be just awful to look at, and half the time you can't get a decent cut of beef. Most of them don't care. Can't find or they don't have half of what you need. I stood in line at the Wal-Mart in Middlesboro for 20 minutes waiting for anybody to cut fabric for my daughters school project. Even when they showed up they were rude. Acted like we are just bothering them for nothing. I wasn't the only one standing there either. There were about 4 others there as well.

They don't clean the floors or bathrooms like they should either. There is a difference between work and actually doing your work. They don't take pride in what they do at all. I wouldn't budge on anything and fire them all because they didn't show up for work just like my boss would do to me. Unions have destroyed a lot in this country. Do away with them. And they wonder why people go out of state to shop.

Hmmm... Could there be a reason they act that way? Low pay and no benefits kind of breeds that kind of attitude.. Also sounds like the management is not managing. You get what you pay for.

LOL.... Spoken like a true Faux News nit wit disciple.... Who do you think is making them rich? Certainly not the sweat of their own brows.

-How many jobs have you ever got from a poor man???

-No one is making these walmart employees stay there, they can quit anytime they want.

-I suppose that at in your world the poor and workers at one time were fabulously wealthy and along came walmart's owners and stole it all. Yeah you probably believe that.

They did not start Walmart nor have they "earned" a dime of that money. It was given to them.. Sam Walton would be ashamed of how his company treats its employees...

-Sam started it and it has been amazingly successful because they have been frugal with their expenses and now that is a bad thing in our warped world.

-So if you don't start a business or earn any of your wealth by digging ditches and in it for the struggle you stole it? Marxism 101, they done well with you.

And your premise that giving the employees a fair wage and benefits will somehow put the company under is stupid.$15 an hour is not a lot of money.. This not 1985..

-What is a fair wage? Why not $25 an hour?

-Paying more wages for a job that is not worth it will put you out of business quicker than you think. GM and Chrysler are prime examples of this foolishness.

-And your right it's not 1985. But you need to remember with your union crap it's not 1935 anymore either.

In big cities like Detroit and Illinois its even worse. It's the people themselves. It's got everything to do with all of them. No matter where you go you're going to find a few stores that make the rest look bad. Got nothing to do with minimum wage. Its called lazyitis.

You are an idiot who has obviously never worked a day in your life. You take a statement and take it to its most extreme, which tells me that you also are not very bright or willing to see anyone else's point of view. It also says that you are pretty young and have not lived on your own.
Walmart not only treats its employees with disdain,it treats its vendors equally as poorly. Look up how many of their suppliers they have put under with their strong arm tactics. And how many lawsuits they have pending against them, from sexual harassment to gender and race discrimination. So junior, maybe you should do a little living before you start chiming in on things that you don't know about.

Take care who you call an idiot! NO ONE is forced to work at Walmart and NO ONE is forced to sell a product to Walmart. Employees and vendors are free to work and sell elsewhere.

Walmart or any other free enterprise does not exist for the sake of an employee! They exist to make a profit. Otherwise they would be a charity.

I'm no "junior" like you accuse the other person you called an idiot. I'm an old man who has worked at many different occupations.

Your philosophy appears to be socialism. That's your choice. The problem is it doesn't work and never has worked efficiently. It is eventually replaced by at least a form of capitalism (China, Russia, etc.).

On the other hand, you do mirror what is happening in this country. With huge numbers of people on welfare, and other government handouts, perhaps the government will eventually own all the means of production. That would make you happy, wouldn't it?
