No way....this should not have happened as it did. Why did the so called training officer remain in the squad after the vehicles stopped. He should have exited and took a point to observe the driver for any overt moves, ie grabbing a weapon or going for the door. The bad guy would have been unable to shoot both officers as he did. Think about it,

He's right Dennis. I was an FTO for years at a med size PD. Depending on where the trainee is in the program...as in Final Phase...you let them do it all by themselves and you usually stsy in the car and observe. After all they will be g"rown up" Police Officers and will have to pull big bad people over, all by themselves after they complete training.
