A sad day for all the employees of Johnson Rubber company and Middlefield. As close neighbors we wonder if and when the contamination onsite will be remediated? Historical operations have contaminated the groundwater, surface water and soil media at Johnson Rubber in Middlefield Ohio. Only time will tell? Ron & Laura Duncan - Longtime Middlefield residents.

Its surprising to me, that within the two years that I have been employed there. The company, can loose over 4 million dollars, and just say "we dont know what happened". And its even sadder, that people who have been there for 30 plus years, are only getting 30 days severence pay. That goes to show you, that the company is only out for themselves.

that made Johnson Rubber close. He is supposed to be a skilled "Turnaround Specialist." He was never at the plant, during any given week, long enough to do any real managing. He just shot from the hip and was mean to anyone who questioned his judgement. What do we get for that ? NO JOB. Charles Price--drive your Porsche back to Charlotte and do not come back !

I can't believe this factory is closing. I lived in Middlefield for 28 years. I lived in front of Johnson Rubber. I worked there once when I was laid off from another local factory. I am sad for all the people who work there. They worked hard and sure don't deserve this. Now where will they go? This country is going down hill fast.

The question remains will the groundwater and soil pollution ever be cleaned up in Middlefield? This facility was one the (top 200) Title V polluters in the state of Ohio. Only time will tell and do not count on the EPA or Middlefield village for any remediation effort. Ron E. Duncan - Longtime Middlefield resident
