another speeding truck causes an accident. I have no sympathy for them with diesel prices, if they were so worried about mileage they would not drive 80MPH+

All these idiot drivers on the road need to slow down. CT highways are not the indy 500.

I guess a truckload of packages won't make it to their destination on time.

This also is a sad reminder that if your car does break down on the highway pull all the way off the road as much as possible and try to stay away from the road

Wasn't the FedEx truck driver pay attention geesh.I hope the two people with the car are not seriously hurt and make it okay. As for the driver of the truck, he should pay soem kind of penalty for his reckless actions. I am quite sure he was driving way over the speed limit.

While I agree with the other coments, I wouldnt't be so quick to blame the Fed-ex driver. There should be a full investigation as to the cause and if speed played into the accident. Unfortunately I have seen too many people changing tires halfway in a line - incliding the fast lane! It is everybody's job to make the road safe, not just the truckers.

Also, there are not enough state police to adequatly enforce the speed limit, so all people (truckers and other motorists alike) will drive at the speed they like. And the few troopers we do have are constantly cleaning up accidents.

I don't think that's what they meant. All people need to slow down and drive the speed limit. Not just truck drivers. The person outside of their vehicle is lucky to be alive. We live in a crazy world. There would have to be a police car every mile of every highway to actually have everyone drive the speed limit. Think of how much that would cost. Everyone is always in such a big hurry. Slow down and enjoy your life!

I was headed south on 91 when I saw this scary seen. I am not too religous but as I passed, I prayed for everyone involved. Glad to hear all involved are in stable conditions. Irony is, when I'm on the road in my 4 door sedan, FedEx drivers are one of the few companies I trust the most on the road...

Those FED EX trucks drive too fast. Case scenario, last night I was driving down I91 N. I was in the right lane to get off at exit 36, there was an 18 wheeler FEDEX trailer on my tail, I mean he was tailgating so close, I couldn't wait to get off the exit. Laws should be enforced on these tractor trailer drivers when the drive way too fast and beyond the 65 limit.

What you just mentioned about tailgaters, it is not only Fed Ex Trucks. I drove 84 yesterday and had the same thing happen to me. I was in the right hand lane also. Tickets should be so harsh, people maybe then will think more about the roads than whatever else they are concentrating on.

I think you need to read again, this time with your thinking cap on. The writer indicated it is because we need more state troopers who will have time to enforce traffic laws instead of spreading them thin due to their response to accidents...

Forget Troopers(not really) We need manditory temporary sterilization drugs or implant put in at puberty and only removed when the person masters a basic logic and reasoning test.

i know the people who were in the car crash and the man outside the car was in bad condition, had surgery on his leg but all are stable and okay. the woman in the car had her seat belt on (thank God) and is almost completely fine, she walked away with minor scratches and bruises.
Yes, it was not the best idea to change the tire at the side of the road but it was also at 5am. not too many people were on the road; the fedex driver fell asleep at the wheel. probably because the company expects too much out of him anyways and he is constantly exhausted. Thank God everyone is okay and please take this as a reminder to stay awake on the road and be CAREFUL! These are your lives and the lives of others that could be changed because of your actions. Thank you to everyone that is concerned with the couple.

I work for Federal Express and for your information ALL the trucks are governed to not exceed 68 MPH so get your facts straight before posting a stupid comment like you did.

If you only knew....
ALL FedEx trucks are governed at 68 miles per hour! PERIOD! The vehicle was not exceeding the speed limit.
Try, try again to blame speed but THIS time it was not a factor. I don't know what the factor was, but that wasn't it!

And just where did you read that the driver of the truck fell asleep? Gee, couldn't something have malfunctioned on the truck? Anything other than you people saying, "he was going too fast" or "He was too tired and he fell asleep"?
You've already proven your ignorance by saying he was speeding so please get your facts straight before you post insinuations.
And for all of you that say ANYTHING along the lines of, "I feel bad for the people in the car but not the driver of the truck". Shame on yourselves. Just SHAME! Do you honestly think any of this was intentional? For Pete's sake, quit acting inhumane!
