Tyler County Schools in Tyler County, West Virginia are some of the worst schools in the United States. Why? Nothing wrong with the children who go to these schools! What is so awful about Tyler County Schools? The principals, teachers, faculty, staff, coaches, and bus drivers is what is wrong with these schools! They are all incompetent to perform any and all duties they were hired to do.

I actually agree that the principals, teachers, faculty, staff, coaches, and bus drivers is what is wrong with these schools in Tyler County. The teachers are only concerned about test scores and not concerned about the children. Children in the elementary schools are required to act like adults and not a child. This is ridiculous.

Ha, glad I found this post. My son is in Boreman Elementary school in Tyler County. The teachers that he has had do only care about the test scores. They label my son as a troublemaker because he fidgets with his pencil or squirms in his seat on occasion. A kid cannot be a kid anymore. Boys cannot be boys anymore. The school system wants to label my son as a troublemaker and even considers him to have ADHD. I say bs! He is a boy being a boy. The principal and teachers want every child who fidgets on occasion to be medicated. Medicated to become Zombies in class. Tyler County schools were not always like this but they have become this now.

The teachers at boreman told me that my daughter was too much to handle and they wanted her to see Dr. Nichols in Sistersville to be diagnosed with adhd and be put on meds.. I am a single mom who is just trying to what is best so I took my child to see Dr. Nichols. After answering several questions from the nurses and then the doctor my daughter was labeled as having adhd. The doctor put her on medication right away. The first year of medication made her lose weight to skin & bones. She had no appetite at all. The doctor decided to change her medication to help with the appetite issues and with the new meds she became angry and depressed. After that happened I took her off the meds for good and never went back to Dr. Nichols again. My daughter is a good 9 year old girl. She suffered because of the meds. I blame the principal and the teachers for directing me, harassing me to have her medicated. Never again. They still bully me by calling to complain because my daughter does something wrong such as turns around in her seat or holds another childs hand which is wrong now but I will never let them bully me into medicating her again. Tyler County schools shouls be ashamed.

The School system does not care about the children. All the teachers complain about is getting a raise. Do your job! Teach these kids!

The bus drivers for Tyler are rude and not trained well. Tyler county hires backwoods retards to drive these buses. Not one of them is good with children. Blah.

Consider Paden City Schools! I know our schools have their shortcomings also (we are all human) but I feel the teachers have more interest in teaching and seeing our students achieve and not just trying to get high test scores. Students feel "connected" to their classmates, their school and the community. Our schools are growing (enrollment increases each year) and our students are achieving in the classroom and outside the classroom. Your student will be expected to work hard and there are no "free rides." Paden City Schools... Open for All, Now and Always!

State board of ed says 5 years to wetzel county consolidation. The time has come for it. Unfortunately finances dictate this. As a Valley grad I hate to see it. But it is time to move forward. Cherish the memories.

Biggest mistake Tyler made was the consolidation. The consolidation may have been good financially but it completely ruined school pride.

School pride is just one casualty of consolidation.

Why was consolidation brought into the conversation Valley grad? Folks aren't happy with Tyler schools and I offered an alternative--Paden City Schools. Again, someone has to bring up the consolidation card. If you don't like the idea of consoidation, then you should do what the folks in PC are doing- showing how our schools are successful now and don't cost as much money as the past Superintendent tried to say they did. We are also continuing to work to make our schools the best in the state and raising funds to make provide what the state and county aren't able to. Back to my point--if folks in the area are not happy with the quality of education their children are receiving, consider the public schools in Paden City.

Are you kidding me? Enrollment at PC is not up. A few foreign exchange students at best. Get with the times and quit living in the past. I wish all the schools could stay open. Just not financially practical anymore. Didn't say I liked it, just the way things are.

I agree totally, they have tried to say my son needs to be tested for ADHD and he is the most laid back kid. I have older children and NEVER in the last 6 years of my kids being in the school system have I dealt with the BS as I have this year. There are teachers there that have went way past their exp. date and need to retire!!!!!! Not to mention when I send notes to school asking about whats going on with my child or the questions I have I never get a response.

Pappy, let's not argue this on this thread. This thread is about Tyler County schools, not Paden City. And yes, PCHS enrollment IS up and we don't have any foreign exchange students this year. 0!! Now, you get with the times and learn the facts before you bust out with comments like the one you made. We are not living in the past in Paden City. We are forging ahead into the future and finding ways to fund our schools' needs beyond the normal state funding formula. Private citizens and organizations are stepping up to fund the things the county and state can't afford. Furthermore, the Wetzel County BOE has staed numerous times, the county school system is on the best financial footing in years. Again this thread is about Tyler County Schools and parents who are concerned about them. I hear the plight of the parents and hope they are able to work with Tyler County school system to make the changes they feel they need.

It has been many years since I attended Boreman elementary school but have never forgotten the bullying that I received from a few teachers there. The bullying began in Kindergarten. Before the remodel there, the Kindergarten classroom was one large room at the back of the school. There was a small room just inside the Kindergarten area, I believe it was used for storage of games, toys, teaching materials, etc.. This room was used by some Kindergarten teachers to seperate children from the class for being "bad". I remember a specific day going to class, I had a terrible toothache from where I had just lost a tooth and another was coming through. I cried a little, normal, I think so. Instead of calling my parents to let them know that I was hurting, the teachers put me in this small room, made me sit on the floor against a wall, turned out the light and closed the door. Here I was, 5 years old, sitting on the floor in a dark, small, cramped room by myself. I sat there for over an hour before the teacher let me come out and go to lunch. I didn't know any better at the time or I would have told my parents about that incident. Throughout my Kindergarten year, I was put in the same room several times for minor things. I wasn't a bad kid by any means, never once was I mean to anyone nor did I do bad things. Just because I cried a little from a toothache, or another time when I misplaced an item in class. These punishments were uncalled for. I blame these few teachers who did this to me as a 5 year old child, I believe this is why I was very distant from kids throughout my school years and that I never trusted my teachers even as I got older. I believe that Tyler County BOE is very slack at making sure that teachers are trained properly. Yes, my incident happened many years ago but now I have children. My oldest boy is in Boreman now and I have seen the way these teachers treat the children. My 7 year old boy is expected to act as if he is 17. I have been very clear to my children that they must tell me of anything the teachers, principal, or staff says or does to them. I only hope that the BOE will keep a close eye on these teachers and make sure that the bullying I received as a child from teachers never happens to any child today.

Just heard today the the Tyler Consolidated Middle School Principal is gone. They say he retired but I heard he was forced out by the BOE. Rumors are running rampant!

WOW! I am shocked to see some of these post. First, let me tell you that I am a graduate of Tyler Consolidated and went to SES. Tyler has one of the best school systems in WV, if not the best. It has also ranked nationally for academics and technology. To say the teachers don't care, wow --- I am very disappointed in all of you. Teachers are underpaid and do everything they can to help children, I think the problem in Tyler County is some of the parents, such as the ones on here. Kids are brats because it starts at home --- learn to make your kids behave and sit down and shut their mouths in a classroom and have respect for adults. If you don't like the school system don't get on a website and make up a name and hide, simply remove your kids from the system! And the consolidation is 20 years old, all you SHS and old Tyler High people need to grow up and let it go --- do whats right for the communities and the children in Tyler, keep your memories but let the new generation make their memories too and stop bashing them, maybe thats where the pride falls short, because jackasses like you all tell them how horrible the consolidation was and how bad they have it. When really, they have it good. Trust me, I work in Berkeley County WV and have also worked in Kanawha, wake up people --- APPRECIATE what you have!
