Witness Intimidation Makes Solving Murders Harder

The battle against witness intimidation is nationwide. The FBI says so many criminals are succeeding, it's impacting the number of murders solved. Kathryn Brown has more on the report and what it means for Maryland.

Prosecutors say witness intimidation here in Baltimore is some of the worst in the country and now a report by a national police advocacy group showcases the problem and says it is growing desperate.

Witness intimidation in Baltimore City is growing at such a fast rate, prosecutors are now calling it a crisis, a powerful underground force that cultivates a "code of silence" on the streets. Read more

Carl Lackl is my family member who lost his life to these thugs. Our family will never be the same without him in it.They are calling this a crisis. We are calling it the sadest and most heartbreaking pain that anyone one in our family has been through.Someone better step up and do something to stop this. Our City sucks because the people that are suppose to protect us can't figure out a way to stop the killings of our loved ones.Change the laws that would be the best place to start.GOD BLESS CARL LACKL AND HIS CHILDREN,FAMILY AND ALL OTHER FAMILYS WHO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS HEARTACKE BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW THE LAWS TO CHANGE.

To combat witness intimidation they are implementing an anonymous text messaging system and are also thinking of building a safe house in Baltimore,MD.What about thinking of doing something to ride the crime of the City. This is crazy.People will be lieving the City that is full of crime b/c the people in charge of the system can't controll what it's become.Shame on them all.Perhaps if it were there familys then only then would they do something to change the murder rate in Baltimore.

IF THE POLICE WOULD STOP SITTING IN ROYAL FARMS AND DUNCAN DONUTS ECT...MAYBE OUR CHILDREN WOULD BE SAFE.SHOULDN'T THEY BE PATROLLING OUR STREETS.BE SEEN IN ALL THE AREAS THAT ARE CRIME RITTON.GET TO KNOW THE PEOPLE IN THESE AREAS SO THAT THEY KNOW AT LEAST THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERANTS.I'VE SEEN UP TO SIX COP CARS AT A TIME IN THESE ROYAL FARMS.I'VE SEEN THEM RIDE RIGHT PASSED A PERSON OF INTREST.I'VE SEEN THEM BEHIND BUILDINGS,2 AND 3 COP CARS.THEY JUST SIT AND SOOT THE BREEZE.NO BIG DEAL TO THEM.IT DOESN'T STOP THERE EITHER WHEN THEY DO MAKE A ARREST,ONCE IT GETS TO THE COURTS THEY JUST THROW IT OUT AND SO ON.IT IS A SHAME.THEN THEY WONDER WHY THEY ARE ALL CRITICIZED.THIS IS WHY AND THAT IS THE SOLE REASON THE MURDER RATE WILL CONTINUE TO RISE.
