I hear this place is up for renewal on its lease from the town. I wonder if they'll keep it going or will it bought out by someone else. I hear it's a gold mine. Especially with all the moring service charges that cost nothing to them. From my house it looks like upwards of a few hundred morings they "service" "visually inspect, look at shackles and shanks, replace the chain" all at a markup on the parts they buy. It's a gold mine. They must have stock piled some money over the years.

If you live in crystal brook over looking the harbor a four dollar shackle shouldn't make or break you. I have had a mooring there for 30 years and they have always treated me fairly. You must own a sailboat and are used to "the wind being free everything else should be" motto.

My family has been using Ralph's for as long as I can remember, and have always been happy with their services. I'm sure they pay high rents. They mark up on parts, eh? That, sir, is called business!

It never ceases to amaze me how people who have no knowledge of what they are talking about offer opinions about another persons business.
As someone who is close to the owners of Ralph's, I know that they work 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, and don't make even close to what a cop makes, and there is no pension. Certainly not enough to be able to afford a house in Crystal Brook overlooking the water.
They sell only American made mooring supplies and sell them at a fair price. If Mr. Crystal Brook wants cheaper shackles he can always go to the discount stores and get the Chinese hardware.
As for stock piling money over the years, try employing over 20 people, paying their medical insurance, compensation insurance, vacation and all the other expenses involved with employees, while only having 8 months to make the money to last 12 months. It is very obvious Mr. Crystal Brook has never run a business.

Believe me there's money coming in hand over fist. Just for a little bit of information I'm going to explain to you about the storage associated with owning a boat. Now I'm a mooring customer but let's say I had a slip at Ralph's fishing station. I'm guessing it's roughly $100 a foot, Let's say there is 75 boats in the slips, Based on an average of 25 feet in length....... That's $187,500..... Not to mention the storage that he does on land all season-long at $75 a foot, Who knows how many of those between both yards, Don't be fooled, the place is a Goldmine! Btw..... No tax on storage, the law. Not to shabby just for putting it somewhere. Now add up the Fees associated with having the boat. Average 25 foot boat shrink-wrapped and winterized with one engine and no water system. It cost me $600 a year and those are Ralph's prices. It's time for some more math.....600x300..... That's another 180k. What about things like moring service????? I think that's about $5-$600 a year. I can go on and on. These are all fees associated with my annual boat maintenance. By no means am I complaining all I'm saying is that they're making money hand over fist. Don't tell me about employees insurance and vacations and whatever else you want to talk about six days a week 12 hours a day, because not one single employee works there for 60 hours a week. In fact I bet all Winter long there's no more than 10 employees. The other 10 probably come in the summer at a rate of less than eight or nine dollars an hour. If every employee there took home $1000 per week that's only $78,800 on the books, I doubt they even paying that longtime mechanic that much money, Times ten employees that's only $780,000..... Maybe the other 220,000..... I don't know insurance and whatever else you think they pay for , for the employees. That's 1 million right there, They're probably making five times that. I'm telling you it's Pure greed And the love of money that keeps this family driving on.

Ralphs has screwed several loyal paying customers over the past two years that I know of. Loyal customers of many years who paid good money to them. Forced boaters out of Mt.Sinai for good. Karma ......

By reading what you have written I can see that you have absolutely no understanding of overhead in a business especially a seasonal one. Its so easy to count other peoples things when you have absolutely no understanding of whats involved. You need to get a life and find something better to do especially on Christmas. I think a real man would write his name on his statement. MEOW. Sounds like another Commi Liberal that wants something for nothing.

With all your mathematical calculations for assuming that Ralph's Fishing Station is a gold mine, did it ever once occur to you that not everyone pays their bill on time or even at all??? Do you have any idea how many people abuse the good will of the owners??? A gold mine it is not. And the owners do work long hours through most of the year in order to meet customers demands, leaving the few short months in the middle of winter to take a little, well-deserved break before it all starts again. Do you have any idea how hard the crew works whenever a 'tropical storm' or 'hurricane' is predicted??? 80 boats out of the water in 3-4 days is no easy task and then most have to be put back in when the weather passes.

No matter what kind of business one has, not every customer will be happy all the time, but at Ralph's Fishing Station you'll always find friendly, helpful owners and employees who will do their best to satisfy even the most difficult of clients. Seasonal employees come back every summer because it's a great place to work and great people to work for. It goes without saying that the majority of customers look forward to seeing their familiar faces.

People like you who have nothing better to do with their time than to write trash make me ill.
