they were painted by a teacher at william floyd high school. first the village would not pick them up from this woman's home, and second, they have never been put up. what happened to them?

Maybe so from a personal standpoint, but not being part of the clique, I wouldnt know.

True, no one is perfect, but when one makes mistakes, and then lies at village meetings in an appearance to lessen the visibility of mistakes or hides behind the lawyer; that isnt called for. You make a mistake, own up to it; correct the problem and make sure it doesnt occur again.

Then you get some of his inner circle members who will come on here in his defense of his lies with more lies exacerbates the image of impropriety.

People who pay taxes just want an open and honest government without and 'behind closed doors dealings'.

Surely you want an open and honest government as well, dont you?

I understand what you're saying, but I can tell you from my vantage point that there were no intentional misdeeds or purposeful acts of deception.

The Board, including Gary, are just average people, each with a unique set of life experiences. Together, they have created a working village government.

They are all new to governing, and as a long-time observer of the political world, I can tell you every board member has made their share of mistakes.

You shouldn't expect any of them to say and do everything as smoothly as a seasoned politician who parses every sentence and action.

You can be assured that if any one board member was intentionally violating the law or acting in a manner that conflicted with their oathes of office or legal/moral responsibilities, the others would not allow those misdeeds to go unchallenged.

Give them a chance. They will never be perfect, or ever make everyone completely happy, or respond perfectly to every question or unfounded accusation, but they are succceding and making significant improvements to our community.

This village is our only real chance at transforming Mastic Beach into the place we all hope for. We need to be patient, understanding and most of all - forgiving.

AMEN !!! It is about time someone realized there are good people working hard to make a better life for the residents of Mastic Beach.
With no practical training they have done an amazing job of forming and running a government, given up their personal time with family and friends, and worked tirelessly (especially through the many storms) to keep us all safe. Each day we get closer to the goals that were set when the village was created.
It is past the time for the haters open their eyes, and minds and see the potential for a better future we can all have if we work together towards something positive, and stop trying to destroy our only hope of changing what we inherited from the Town and County.

what a load of BS! I could see your point if it wasn't so obvious that they are liars and crooks. They "mistakingly" continue to hand out EMERGENCY NO BID CONTRACTSto a trustees FAMILY MEMBER? Is it a mistake that they continue to harasse the MBPOA and are trying to stop them from opening their marinas any way they can? Is it a mistake that friends of the vision team have been fixing their homes WITHOUT permits but people who were against the village are forced to get them and have to wait a long time for these permits? Tim B is one of the biggest crooks this village has hired to date. So save your "give them time" speech for someone else. If they had a PLAN before a village was formed, they would know what they had to do. Instead, all we heard was "we'll figure it out later"! Only ill prepared idiots form A GOERNMENT WITH NO PLAN! And that's what we have. An ill prepared government run by idiots. So congratulations, we got what was expected.
"Give them time"!? It was three years BEFORE a village, and it's been three years AFTER we became a village. That's 6years and they still are clueless.

So, when Gary was questioned at a village meeting if he was attempting to ramrod a mobile phone tower on his land, him and the mayor responded that it was all just rumors. It turns out that legal notices had previously been plastered all over the Advance newspaper that in fact he WAS trying to do so.

That wasnt an intentional act of deception?

Brady, why dont you shut the fcuk up and go suckle on gary a bit more. Gary has lied numerous times at village meetings. You may be OK with that but that is something taxpayers should not tolerate.

Making mistakes is one thing, numerous INTENTIONAL lies is different.

Whats the matter, the truth hurts? Cant explain it away as an 'honest mistake' so you just want to chalk it up as 'old news'. It isnt old news if he CONTINUES to lie at public village meetings.

I said I could not find any mention of the grant on either Kate's website, nor the Mastic Historical society. I never said there was no grant.

A few years ago Leg. Kate Browning gave a $5000.00 Suffolk County tax funded Grant to the local Mastic Historic Society to hire an artist to paint 4x8 billboards that Gary Stiriz wanted to put on Neighborhood Rd. The paintings were finished and the paintings were turned over to Gary then they disappear, not to be seen again why?
Gary says they are OK well then where are they and why were they not put up as required by the grant? Where are the $5000.00 tax funded paintings that were or are in your care? Were they as has been rumored lost in the storm Gary ???????? You got sum splanin da do. Oh Lucy
Very interesting. I hope you can find the date of the grant. I checked Kate's website back to 2008 and found no mention.

<quoted text>i asked this question 2 years ago after they received the grant. No signs, no money. Where DID that money go? so brady, i know you wont believe it until Kate B tells you herself, so go ask her. you always say Gary is honest, go find out if he really is! I already know that the village DID receive that money, but nothing was ever shown for it. But hey, what's 5grand "missing" to Gary. The village blows that by noon ever day of the year.
I am not your errand boy! I checked Kate's website where all the other grants she secured were listed and I found nothing about the one you are talking about.

Then, I went looking for Mastic Historic society and found Mastic Peninsula Historical Society which also had no mention of the grant you are talking about.

You asked this 2 years ago, why ask me? Ask someone who cares.

And finally, Beachman contacted Kate's office and was told the reply he posted on post #21

If you want more info, contact Kate's office.

Look for the green. But some just don't want to hear the truth. As Brady knows I am not a Village supporter. But when I get a chance to ask the person directly responsible for the money I do. And I posted her response. Find a new reason to bash the village.

I can excuse the trustees being human, but I cannot excuse fraud and nepotism. Giving no bid "emergency funded" contracts to a family members company is corruption at its finest.
